Will Muschamp record vs. top 25

His career record vs. top 25 teams is 7-27. This record includes a 5-14 record while at Florida, and 2-13 record while at South Carolina.
4 of his 7 wins came in 2012 which was the only really strong year he's had as a head coach when he went 11-2. He's 43-45 overall as a head coach outside of that 11-2 season.

So what you're saying is...

that 2012 team managed to succeed in spite of having NoChamp as their head coach?
uof6c should give him a giant raise and sign him to a lifetime contract before some other better program come along and steals him away.

I have a coot friend from high school who still thinks Muschamp is their guy, and that he only needs to be given enough time, and he'll lead them to great things.
If it weren't for him I'd probably assume that all of their fans were ready to see him gone. The funny thing is, he thinks Muschamp is a great recruiter, and also a great coach. So I always ask him how then in year 5 under a great coach with a team full of players that a great recruiter brought in that even he is predicting them to win somewhere between 5-7 games this season. I realize that number of wins is most likely more than they'll actually win, but keep in mind this guy is a big Muschamp supporter who thinks things are moving in the right direction for them, and even he thinks they'll lose somewhere between 3-5 games this season. He always has some excuse for Muschamp though which mostly ends up being because of Spurrier.
Funny how he's now in his 9th season as a head coach between Florida and South Carolina, and the same excuses continue to follow him around...injuries, bad OC's, and poor QB play. Any of those things can happen to foil a season or two. Heck, Dabo had to make changes to his coordinators and staff, sometimes injuries can ruin a season, and sometimes even a highly rated QB recruit can end up not working out as well in college. Any great coach isn't still figuring out how to overcome those issues in his 9th freakin year as a head coach though.
Sorry for the long reply, but your post just made me think of who would actually try to hire Muschamp as a head coach if he became available tomorrow. I find it hard to believe that answer is anything other than nobody even when factoring in non-P5 schools. I do think he'd receive offers as a DC again, but I find it unlikely that he'll ever be a P5 head coach again at this point.

Speaking of Spurrier, I think it's insane that so many of their fans continue to blame Spurrier for their issues over the past few years. Spurrier gave them the best years in their program history, and the only consistent success against Clemson that they've ever had. I also think they overrate how bare he left things there. The recruiting dropped off a bit, but I believe all but 1 of the final 4 recruiting classes under Spurrier were ranked in the top 25. There was at least enough talent left there by Spurrier that he shouldn't have still been blamed for issues 3-4 years after he left.
As I've tried telling my friend that I mentioned above, at least when we'd face Spurrier you had to consider that Spurrier may come up with a great game plan. I actually think that Spurrier and Venables would've had some great chess matches had Venables arrived at Clemson a few years earlier. I don't think anyone has ever worried that Muschamp may outcoach anyone, nor does his record vs. top 25 teams suggest that he does.

which we know isn't going to happen because they spent what little buyout money they saved on a sculpture of a castrated rooster.
That said, if he did get the ax, uof6c would own him quite a bit of money, so he really wouldn't have to do much of anything although I suspect he would ultimately end-up as a coordinator at some Sunbelt, Conference USA, AAC, Mid-American, or Mountain West program.

One of my favorites is this.
Teams are 147-2 when they old an opposing offense to under 120 total yard.
Will Muschamp is 0-2 in the same metric.
A couple of other stats:
Ol' Boom was 0-7 i the cocktail party as both coach and player. Even Mark Richt wasn't THAT bad.
Combine that with his Clemson record and his FSU/UF record ol Boom is 1-17 vs main rival programs. His only win was against 2012's FSU squad.
My bet is that of Muscoot leaves and coaches elsewhere BET on the other instate school to win a natty. For example, if he goes to Kansas next, Kansas State will win it all.

Muschcoot only concerns himself with the top 25 high schools in the state, most of which end up with better records at seasons end.

I also did some additional digging...
In their first full 4 years as HC (2009-2012 for dabo, Coots for WM), Dabo faced 18 ranked opponents and Muscoot faced 16 (lol at the SEC East saying they have it harder). Muscoot went 2-13 (or 5-14 at UF) and Dabo went 8-10. Yes, Dabo had more top 25 victories in his first 4 years rebuilding Clemson that Muscoot has in his career (unbuilding programs). More interestingly is year 3. Dabo went 4-2 and Muscoot went 0-5. Every coach needs that breakout year and even though 2012 was a miss for hardware with us, we went 4-2 against top 25 programs. Muscoot had the same opportunity for a breakout and then poasted a 0-5 vs top talent teams.
Since starting out 8-10 against top 25, Dabo is now 31-19 overall vs top 25 teams, thus going 23-8 vs top 25 teams since 2013 (and if you did the math and wondering about one L sometimes not included, that would be his interim coach loss to ranked FSU in 2008 - sometimes included, sometimes not).
Side note, we went 0-3 in 2014, then have been 21-3 since. We haven't lost a non-playoff game to a ranked opponent in 6 years. Even Bammy or OSU can't say that.

Interesting thing about that 21-3 record is that all 3 losses were against the team that won the NC that season. Two of those were obviously in the NC game, and the other was in the playoffs against Bama who went on to win the NC.
