What I've learned about MAGA from the folks here

Especially in light of this Vikings guy who has stumbled into this board and is trying to figure out how 20th century technology works. These are the trends I've noticed about the hardline MAGA folks (remember, this doesn't apply to people who simply chose Trump in an election... these are the people who still worship him).
They have little to no understanding of the Constitution... nor do they want to. Before Trump ever took office, they yammered on about following the Constitution and putting in a president who would do so. Since Trump has took office, that's clearly not the case. They have no understanding of Congressional powers vs. executive orders. They argue against much of the Bill of Rights, even dismissing them if they don't like the language.
They claim to be Christian but know the Bible about as well as the Constitution. And know the Bible about as well Trump does. They were wrongly taught growing up that Christians were meant to be warriors who fought for a kingdom of Gawd, likely in an evangelical setting. To them, being Christian means going to war. They know very little about Jesus's teachings, nor do they want to hear it (some even flat out dismissed them in a thread yesterday). I'll at least give Keowee props for admitting his motivation isn't driven by religion.
Their anti-immigration stance is rooted in white supremacy. While intelligent others argue against immigration from a logical standpoint, MAGAs are only fervently against it from a fear of dark skinned people. That's why they only focus on Hispanics or Haitians; they take no issue with white (especially wealthy) illegals. I'll point anecdotally to a person I know whose whole family is hardcore MAGA and anti-immigration but have now pleaded for help because their white relative from Europe has been caught up in the fray. Which brings me to...
They lack empathy towards anyone else until they face hardship. Jokes about DOGE cutting people's jobs. Snide comments about hurricane victims. Celebrating immigrants being sent to horrible prisons, even if wrongfully so. This also highlights their lack of actual Christianity. They have no problem mocking others for their hardships, but when it suddenly hits home to them, they plead for help.
They claim to be well-traveled but hate foreigners. No one who is well-traveled hates outsiders. That's a fact. So it speaks to the constant lies MAGA people like to tell to attempt to impress others. Which leads to...
They always claim to be rich. Always. At least on this board they do. Again, they have to lie to give off the impression that they're superior to their opponent.
They have absolutely no idea what constitutes political ideology. They say they're conservative but that's only because they think that sounds right. Or they'll borrow the old "I'm a libertarian" lie while dismissing the BoR. They're ideology is simply Trump. They support leftist ideas like tariffs, big government interference with the economy, an adjustable Constitution, increased spending, government surveillance on our personal lives, etc. The tariff example is a great one; they can't determine if they support tariffs or if they think the tariffs are just a bargaining trick because they can't keep up with what Trump says. All they know in their little brains is anyone who oppose them = liberal because they've been taught "liberal" is a bad word.
They pretend to be well-informed but reject all sources of real information. They're always referencing Twitter or TikTok or Instagram. They're as informed as a teenager. And they get talking points from Fox News while lying about watching Fox News. Remember, for a MAGA, no lie is too big.
They definitely want a dictatorship... they're just not quiiiite ready to say it firmly out loud. They've given enough hints about wanting this Trump disaster to turn into a monarchy with their disdain for the Constitution, personal rights and freedoms, due process, oppression of people different from them, adoration for foreign dictators, etc. They just know they can't quite say it out loud yet.
They think they're a victim of society when they're really just too stupid to understand how the world works. Some of us had parents who taught us that we're responsible for our actions and the consequences, and that the world isn't fair. MAGAs think any hardship they've encountered was due to some evil "THEY" out to get them and run the world. So they turn to a man who does a fantastic job of pretending the same thing--but he has billions so they think maybe he's got it all together.
Another one after an edit: They want really bad things to happen to those who oppose them and their movement. They want either prison, deportation, or worse for citizens like you and me who won't get on board. Press them hard enough on it and see what results you get.
EDIT: After going full rage, Keowee or Chem will create a stupid post attempting to copy this one in the subject line. $20 bet.

When they are absolutely destroyed on a topic or Trump has done something really stupid, they will bring up something really random to derail the attention and conversation. Every post is a dishonest one.

At least we know that Catahoula hasn't been to the pharmacy in over two days. Maybe he needs a vacation in sunny El Salvador.

I don't think they oppose the Haitians or Hispanics because they are dark skinned. I think it's because those immigrants are broke and they see them as a drain on the system.

It was over Haitians who were here legally. They were more upset about them then they were all the (white) people here illegally, even so much that they had to make up false claims about eating the cats and dogs.

All the money that has been wasted on illegal immigrants could have been used to help the familys of veterans, police and firefighters. People who have given their lives in the service of others.

Also, complaining about who gets more government handouts is not a conservative position. Illegals deserve my tax money just as much as some poor American does, which is to say not at all.

I'm glad to see you distinguish between Trump voters and MAGA Trump worshippers (I am neither, and I see the error and limitations of choosing a "side"). I think it's important to look at the issues one-by-one regardless of what Trump/MAGA says or thinks, or what any politician or political group or side thinks. I think not doing so is a problem that has become increasingly common and is now a major issue unto itself that prevents real solutions.
I think Trump won the election in large part because of the immigration issue (duh), and I think he's right to the extent he insists on a secure border where people can only enter by going through the required, traditional process, and people who enter otherwise/illegally are not welcome and should be removed as soon as their illegal status is determined.
Now, I'm sure that idea appeals to racists and hateful idjits, but that doesn't make it wrong. Yes, the immigration process needs some serious work, and I'm all for it; but in no way does that mean we should essentially have open borders where millions of immigrants are allowed in without going through the process, only to have many or most disappear and live out their lives here.
In no way is such an idea rooted in racism or white supremacy. Controlled immigration, starting with controlled borders, is just common sense. It would be wrong to oppose that just because Trump and his looney supporters are for it.

The immigration does need serious attention and work, but Trump and MAGA took it from a hostile and divisive angle. They sought to dehumanize immigrants--and I do mean all immigrants--to stir up hatred among the general public. That didn't work on those of us who simply look at the problem logically, but for the MAGA side, if they're a brown-skinned immigrant, legal or not and seeking asylum or not, they want them gone. They subscribe to an ideology that their culture is somehow under attack (Great Replacement).
That's why I make the argument that for those who worship him, it's not about practicality. It's about hatred.

That's certainly true for many, and they are wrong. My point is, we still need, and have the right to, secure borders, where we control who gets in and who gets to stay. It's critical, and possible, to maintain that while still taking a strong stand against racism and similar forms of hatred.
The issue has, in recent times, been framed largely, for political benefit, as white supremacy and extremist nationalism vs. loving concern for disavantaged people in other countries who desreve an honest chance at the American dream. I think that's a false dilemma.
The real issue is, what signifigance do our borders have, and who do we let in and who do we let stay, and how do we go about it for the best benefit of American citizens.

Honestly dude I think they’re just catastrophically stupid. I mean half of them here on this forum believe there is a cabal of satan worshiping overlords that control the world, and somehow Trump and the league of right wing authoritarians is their salvation. It’s like a WWE plot. The other half are atheist nihilist as>sholes and internet edgelords.

"Jokes about DOGE cutting people's jobs... they have no problem mocking others for their hardships, but when it suddenly hits home to them, they plead for help."
Was this directly at me? 'Cause it seems it was directed at me.
If so, I never joked about DOGE cutting jobs, nor did I 'plead' for help. I simply pointed out how stupidly Trump and Musk were going about said cuts. And btw, despite what Kiwi says, my nephew and his team are STILL getting paid to sit around and do nothing. Slight update though; one of their supervisors who was laid off got recalled to work in office. Except he got recalled to work in THREE SEPARATE offices, all over 100 miles apart. Showed up to the nearest one and got written up by the other two for being absent.
Brilliant President Trusk!

No, I didn't. Sure, I raised Hale after the 2020 election with all its Covid justified shenanigans, which still to this day reek of fraud, but that's about it. But if you want to equate me with posters who 'spew hate an ignorance' and think Trump can do no wrong, go right ahead. No skin off my teeth. And I'll add that your never ending back and forth with the same four for five ideological enemies doesn't seen particularly healthy.
