Well, call me an ole lady too because I agree with LBB. I was hoping we'd play the real usc. While I know fans didn't want the west coast travel or the media etc, I didn't want to play Kentucky. Especially since jr beat them. What can we gain playing 7-5 Kentucky. We win, it's expected. A loss would stain the season.
But mostly, I wanted a highly ranked and regarded opponent, even if just name only. Good storyline and exposure with real usc.

like me, personally, I would have much preferred to have seen us play the REAL USC, on their turf (essentially), rather than a boring Kentucky team. I don’t like the matchup. And I hope Dabo has our dudes motivated too. No doubt in my mind they would have been motivated to play USC. TV ratings would have undoubtedly been better for that matchup as well, I’ll wager. But definitely still watching no matter the opponent! I view Tiger football games as a rare delicacy that come around but a few times per year, so they ought to be savored at every possible opportunity. Go Tigers! Beat the pretender basketball school!

You guys should check flights from Gvl/Sptbg into Sanford, FL. Allegiant usually has some really cheap flights, like less than $50 each way. It's about an hour from Jacksonville, maybe 1 1/2 but it's a straight shot up 95.

OMG! My Kentucky grad husband and I will be in Lexington, Kentucky that day for his birthday to attend a basketball game that night in Rupp Arena, lol! We do well cheering for each other's Alma maters, but this might test our marriage. I'll be representing Clemson in some Lexington bar during the game, and my husband says he may have to carry to protect me, lol.

better destination for fan travel. Playing an SEC school will give some clarity what conference should be in. Kentucky has an ACC QB, shouldn't be that big of a problem. I don't remember him being a dual threat. Now the next thing is to see if any opt outs.

On the bright side, CK2 is not yet ready to win against a team with a really good defense.
KY’s defense is better than that of the real USC.
Our team would have been more pumped to play a truly big name opponent such as the real USC than a Ho-hum KY. We can lose to anyone if we are not fully engaged and full of energy to play our hardest.

We have 3 reasons that should give the Tigers PLENTY
of incentive to show out at the end of this lackluster 2023 season
The most important one, giving Clemson
a great chance to finish this two sided season with 5 wins
in a row going into 2024..Plus, with a win and a 9 and 4 win loss record, an almost certainty
to finish in the top 25. Finally, if we don’t win, well, who wants
to lose to a team the gamechickens beat?

Don’t understand how this is any thing other than a downer!! If we win there is nothing much to gain. If we lose there is more disgrace heaped on our program. And no one outside the two states could care less for watching, including many within the two states. Jacksonville game ain’t enough to make me excited about making the trip. Screw it!! Don’t know how these things are done but could we not have said “no go” unless it’s another opponent? Or is there no choice?
