Dabo’s recruiting philosophy is brilliant, especially

taking into consideration the new liberal transfer rules. He recently said that we would probably never have the number one recruiting class. Now that we have established some depth, he will definitely sign as many 4 and 5 stars as possible, but he concentrates on character and how he thinks his recruits will fit in with our present players. By signing 2-5 five stars, and the same number of four stars, he can then afford to use his staff’s tremendous ability to spot potential talent and bring in 12 three stars and a few two stars. This group of two and three star recruits do not expect to arrive on campus and start their first, or, maybe second year. They also know that there is a likelihood that they will be redshirted. Here’s where the brilliance comes in. It gives his staff rhree years to “coach them up”while, at the same time not worrying about them transferring. Alabama and Georgia are bringing in a lot of five stars. With the new rules, you will start to see a lot of transfers. Example, both Georgia and Alabama’s backup qb’s are transferring this year, as did Hunter Johnson did with us this year.
Agree?

Ah. Clemson Hunter Johnson and KB transferred. Does that ruin your point?? Oh, do we count Z. Cooper and Tucker Israel? Not sure transfers is the reason for Dabo's brilliance, but nice try.

are sec schools and their recruits get higher rankings. We have a lot of 3 stars that are just as good as any 4 star that they have.
Case in point
Et Reuben 3 star recruit with offers from
Alabama Oh St UGa ND and many others
He chooses bama or uga and he's easily a 4 star

Agree 100%
The problem is: "folks think b/c we are national champs; we instantly should also get the top recruits"! The problem is: "they aren't top recruits in our staffs eyes for one reason or the other"! People need to look at some of the other schools top recruits and see if they "even had a Clemson offer"! That's right, "we didn't even offer" many of them! For What? We have other players on campus who we(the staff) believes in and will work to develop! Most of those kids go on to be major contributors! As you said, 2 out of the last 3 National Championships! And another one that should have happened suggest to me - this staff knows how to evaluate talent better than the competition who apparently "let's someone else them who is or is not good like a recruiting service"!

Clemson81to85 You might get it. Many people on here don't get it for whatever reason!
It has to do with our latest recruiting ranking! Some people apparently are not satisfied with being rated #10( I think ).
Since you get it; disregard! It's for the folks that don't understand the break down you gave was all done by recruiting classes often that was not top 10.
The proof is in the pudding in other words; but some folks are still not convinced the Tigers will still be dominant! I have no idea why all the doubt when this staff has done so much with lower rated classes than other schools coaching staffs!

Plus we won the National Championship in January. Early signing where most of our recruits came in were well before the playoffs. We only had a couple of spots left for February. Now the 2020 recruits should reflect our championship and our coaches selection of high character players

Dabo and company trust their evaluations over a recruiting service. Nobody at the recruiting service will get fired if a prospect gets on campus and plays like hot garbage. If you have time; your right; building up a 3 star who maybe needed a year in the weight room is great! At Clemson, we have enough 4 and 5 star players to allow for that. That's the major difference between what Boise St. and Oregon were doing with recruiting classes in the 20's or 30's or worse. We get enough blue chip prospects and have enough 3 star and preferred walk on talent on campus to create a competitive environment. Where every rep is judged. So, Mr. 5 star can't relax and "know he has a starting spot"! Zach Pickens will get to U of suc and "not have to work" like that. Josh Belk I think, "rang the bell" because he knew he could go to a place where he would be the man/ w/o having to work for it.
I think many of you guys are in your feelings because you thought: "2 titles in last 3 years should instantly mean; 1st place recruiting class"! Sorry folks! The Tigers coaching staff is a picky bunch! We don't even offer every 5 star so naturally we won't get as many! Could we get them; sure! Many of them would love to be a part of what Clemson has going on! But, they don't get that offer for one reason or another! Maybe the staff believes the player is overrated and looks good b/c he isn't playing other good talent. Or maybe they have character issues. Whatever the case; we don't do "volume recruiting"! Throw a bunch of offers out there and after the kids want to sign we only choose the best/ most highly rated player! We are more precision strike as opposed to the carpet bombing other staffs use.
We have time to make a kid who wasn't rated high - become ( with their hard work and effort b/c that's the type kid we recruit).

Dabo looks for kids that have special in them in many ways,
Feb 8, 2019, 9:41 PM

not just football skills or measurables. It obviously works from a winning team standpoint, and likely changing the way some kids in high school today are looking at their overall person as the go through the process. 10-year-olds onward have been digging Clemson for some time now, and we've delivered. That bodes well, almost best is yet to come territory.
If Dabo and Company are landing top 10 recruiting classes regularly, you'd best believe they're crushing it. Anything better than that would almost be unfair.

The biggest factor in this is that not one man on this staff will lie to a recruit. If you tell them a lie they lose trust and rightly so. Lies are cheap to some people but clearly they are too expensive in the long run.
The reason these our kids feel like they are at home at Clemson is because their parents love them. They are children who are loved and protected by their parents and not commodities to be traded or assets to be sold. The boundaries they grew up with are continued here.
People feel safer when they are inside a hedge and parents are much more comfortable when they know someone is guarding their children instead of catering to the whims of their child.
