The DJIA was up 46% in Biden's term. Trump's is in the negative right now.

Intelligent people also can review historical events and data and see that the US economic recovery under Biden exceeded most developed countries.

and Trump had to deal with it.

I'm sure you'll give him credit for handling the worst part of the Covid crisis.

tanked the market single-handedly, and caused negative GDP growth. I sure would take the Biden economy right now.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

We went through a bear market in 2022. We’ve recently been in a market correction that has been on the rise again lately. It’s been comical to read posts about how people won’t be able to retire now, the market has crashed, etc. Did the tariffs spook the markets ? Yes! Markets spook when a bear farts in the woods. Investors who understand this common cycle have bought some stocks on sale. Will there be more volatility over the next few months? My guess is yes. But I also predict that by the end of the year those of you who relax and stay the course will be very happy. If I’m wrong I will be glad to eat all the crow you want to serve up. But in the meantime my suggestion is stop the daily stock market fret.

following need to happen:
1) The rules of playing the game are established. Trade deals must be in place, and tariff structure must be known.
2) The effects of the tariffs must not pinch consumers as badly as predicted.
3) The consumer must regain some confidence. Maybe as the Economy extends the contraction, prices fall, and the average Joe wants to buy a grill or lawnmower again.
4) Housing prices come down....not sure how this happens without a fairly damaging recession.

Essentially consumer spending (keep in mind this is 70% of the economy) must not fall any farther and the rules of engagement must be known.

but to claim that this is just a common part of the economic cycle is disingenuous. This was a single person taking a wrecking ball to the market by starting a trade war with the entire world, and luckily adults stepped in to stop most of it. We will see what the resulting damage is long term.
