Watched about three minutes of the POTUS last night.

Jul 22, 2021, 8:13 AM

Was flipping channels and landed on the Town Hall. Happened to be the bit where he was talking to the restaurant owner.

I am not in the "he's senile" camp, but man, that was painful to try to watch and decipher. And in the end he said, basically, you're screwed, raise wages. Bad answer Joe.

Why do you not think Biden is on the continuum of senility? I’ve witnessed the same behaviors in multiple patients and a few extended family members. Some days are better than others. He’s only 6 months in. I’m afraid it will only get worse.

Was Dr Jill there to help him stay on topic?

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn’t realize he was doing a Town Hall. Good for him.

Jul 22, 2021, 8:51 AM

Look, one need not pretend to be able to diagnose dementia through a camera to be able to look at Biden’s public speaking and “thinking on his feet” efforts and judge them as extremely poor. At any age. In any mental condition. So I’m surprised that he would do a town hall...no one is calling for it and everyone involved would have to know it’s not going to represent him well.

Jul 22, 2021, 10:29 AM [ in reply to Re: Watched about three minutes of the POTUS last night. ]

I guess the article in time magazine that explained exactly how the entire establishment worked to keep Trump from winning the election had nothing to do with the outcome?

I guess using Covid for 32 states to change their election laws illegally had nothing to do with the outcome of the election?

I guess allowing tons of mail in votes, which France does not allow at all because it leads to corruption and election fraud, had nothing to do with the outcome?

Brett Weinstein, a lifelong democrat and self professed progressive, even admitted that it was not even remotely a level playing field.

Big tech censoring stories about Joe Biden and Hunter Biden and all the lies and ######## from the Democrats while at the same time promoting wild conspiracy theories surrounding Trump had nothing to do with the outcome of the election?

If you think Joe Biden won a fair election and that Trump wasn’t screwed you need to have your head examined.

Not a big Joe Biden fan myself.

Stop trying to run Donald Trump against him, GOP, and you're golden. Stop trying to run a Donald Trump proxy against him and you're golden.

The problem with Joe is that he's a breakwall against anti-democracy, and the GOP is just busily trying to burn democracy down. Joe is hardly wonderful, that's transparently obvious, and all the GOP has to do is run a reasonably sensible center-right candidate that America can unite behind - those are the two key words - and they're golden. There's a freaking acre of space there. I mean, look at it.

The problem is the GOP has an arsonist's mentality and is trying to set fire to the house right now, while the rest of us are trying to live in it.

No, no, and no.

Honestly, a reasonably sensible third-party center-right candidate that eschews the primaries, just says "effit" and jumps in anyhow probably walks away with the thing in 2024, because he's going to look amazing to everybody, especially if Trump and Biden are doddering around.

GOP trying to “burn democracy down”?

Jul 22, 2021, 9:50 AM

I mean, it sounds dramatic and extreme, but it’s just more hyperbole. The party that is behind the interstate vote compact, electoral college disbandment, filibuster elimination, and Supreme Court packing can’t be positioned as the protectors of democracy by anyone who wants their argument to be taken seriously.

Re: GOP trying to “burn democracy down”?

Jul 22, 2021, 10:16 AM

What in the world does the electoral college or the filibuster have to do with "protecting democracy"?

Those are procedures that had their place in time, they're hardly holy artifacts. Now they're being used to effectively block the will of the people.

And there's no evidence whatsoever the Dems have the slightest evidence in packing the Court. That's been the GOP's bag.

Sorry, all the "hyperbole" in on your side.

Jul 22, 2021, 10:24 AM

The democrats established a commission to look at packing the Supreme Court. What evidence do you need that they are looking into packing the court.

2024 purple level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: GOP trying to “burn democracy down”?

Jul 22, 2021, 10:58 AM

Not what Joe did at all.

Joe "established a commission" because that's exactly what you do when you wanna kick the can down the road and do exactly nothing. He doesn't wanna mess with the Court; there's some agitators on the far left rousing for that, sure, but he knows it's political suicide and he's not gonna touch it with a ten-foot-pole. And even if you pulled it off, it'd just cause a landslide back the other way next election and get it packed right back the next term.

He doesn't have the votes and he knows it. Manchin wouldn't go for it. Sinema wouldn't go for it. There's probably a half-dozen other moderates in the Senate that wouldn't go for it. There's 30+ moderates in the House that wouldn't touch it.

It's talk, always has been.

Jul 22, 2021, 10:26 AM [ in reply to Re: GOP trying to “burn democracy down”? ]

My God you are brain-damaged. The Democrats actually say these things moron. They say they’re going to do these things. The only thing that has stopped them so far is public outrage. People telling them this is gonna make them lose and lose big if they keep pushing for these things. But there are huge contingence in the Democratic Party that want to do all of those things that you act like or imaginary. History has proven when they tell us they want to do something they will do it.

And your analysis of the electric could not be more wrong. The canna milk toast ##### ### Republicans you’re talking about I hated by Republicans and the public. You talk like an establishment anti-trump rhino. You sound like the idiot establishment Republicans on the Sunday morning talkshows. You sound like an establishment Republican. You are a ####### joke man. Especially when you think you’re a libertarian? No libertarian I know would consider you a libertarian. They would mark you as an idiot.

The kind of Republicans you’re talking about get crushed in elections. You’re talking about a mitt Romney you’re talking about a Jeb bush or a Marco Rubio. That’s the kind of person you are describing. Average Republicans hate those ####### people because they’re ####### and they’re wimps.

Oh my God man you’re ####### clueless. The Democrats and the progressives play the long game. People on the right think leave me the #### alone and I’ll leave you alone. It’s the passivity of the right that has allowed us to get to where we are today. It’s the kind of Republicans you’re talking about they have compromised but these ####### ######## that are ruining this country.

You’re talking about another bush. I Lindsey Graham. The kind of people you were talking about were crushed by Trump and the Republican primaries and would be crushed by Trump again. Jesus Christ you do not understand conservative politics. You don’t have a clue white conservatives want and what this country needs.

Go listen to some interviews with JD Vance. That’s what we need. We need guys that are willing to ####### fight! We need people to stand up and tell the Democrats to go get ######! They were not going to let these people keep pushing people around and sing in this country down the toilet. That’s why people loved Trump. Trump will fight. Republicans are tired of electing the milquetoast slightly right of center rhinos like you’re talking about.

Jul 22, 2021, 12:38 PM [ in reply to GOP trying to “burn democracy down”? ]

GOP cheats the SCOTUS process, then itself doesn't respect the filibuster to push through its SCOTUS picks. Sure, a Dem had pushed past that to get lower level federal judges confirmed due to across the board roadblocking of every position - another system cheat at the time it was happening to the detriment of our legal system. Rather ungentlemanly also.

The electoral college wasn't even addressed in the voting rights bill that passed the House. Yes many Democrats complain about it, but with a constitutional amendment necessary to eliminate - it ain't ever happening. There's also nothing really anti-democratic about having a majority of votes actually carry the day in an election. Right? I mean, right? (Personally I'm a fan of the EC - it serves its purpose even when it doesn't produce the winner I wanted).

If Supreme Court packing was real and not the idle threat it was blown up among Trumpers as, it would be happening, right now. It's not, and isn't going to. Is the system we have for filling the court somewhat broken and hyper-politicized? ####### A right it is, and I'm happy that grown-ups are taking a long hard look at it. Omigosh! A study, with debate. Whoa! How will our dear Republic survive?

Carry on.
