I decided to look up Michael Penix profile out of HS as I did not remember seeing his name. He was a 3* coming out of high school in 2018. The top rated QB that year was none other than TL16.

I found it interesting after looking at the rankings of the top QBs from that year, most never made an impact (at least I did not recognize their names).
Goes to show that recruiting is certainly an inexact science at best.

He had like four seasons end with injury (two torn ACLs). He deserves some credit for coming back from that.

I’m not sure Michael Penix Jr. has done anything to be bullied by a bunch of old hairy men on TNET. He’s had four season-ending injuries, come out and averaged nearly 350 yards a game, finished second in Heisman, just led his Huskies to a championship game, and has done it all with class.

He was pretty dang good with Indiana. Had there best year in a long time.

Only person on that list better is Trevor… I mean Rising is good. Hartman is good most were ok to I don’t even know them

With respect to Penix, he is currently in his sixth year playing college football. He spent his first four seasons at Indiana battling injuries (mostly ACL injuries). He's currently in his second year at Washington.
By all accounts, he's a good kid and a good player.

1 - He has to stop staring down his primary receivers and locking in on them. He's still missing open secondary receivers. It happened several times against Kentucky.
2 - He has got to eliminate the mental mistakes and start taking better care of the ball.

It's THE most difficult position in all of sports to play. They aren't all phenoms from the get go as some would have you believe.
How many QBs were there this year that excelled in their 5th or 6th Covid year after being nothing special their first several years?

People put too much stock in what the "recruiting experts" say. Was that a title any of them earned or was it a title they gave to themselves?
