If they do not cut this, then what will they need to cut? MONEY is the only way to save it.

They might have to cut the number of slides or VR goggles in the football complex. You know the nicest football complex in the entire universe? We seemed to easily afford that and who knows what else in the past 10 years. Or maybe we could save money by not building an occulus? Yeah, IPTAY spend money on that crap, but leave it up to the track alumni to pass around a hat. Thanks for leaving us hanging. I guess all of our funding is “All In” Dabo’s salary.

I don’t know if appealing to Clemson folks to help provide scholarships for foreigners is the best way to help promote the petition.

Track has helped our football program with elite athletes that want to compete at the olympic level. The CC team was in the top ten in the late 70s and 80s. I hate to see these programs end.

Diversity does not equal

a high number of male, black athletes. With 12 scholarships spread over 26 athletes, it's one of the less diverse sports. It would be more diverse if it had 3 blacks, 3 whites, 3 Asians, 3 middle eastern, 3 Latinos, 3 mongols, 3 Indians, 3 Pacific islanders, and 2 dwarfs.

Diversity literally means having variety.
A team that represents only 2 ethnicities is not incredibly diverse.
In comparison to the student population at Clemson, the track team is not very diverse because there are students from all over the world at Clemson and very few countries/ethnicities are represented on the men's track team.
I believe what you are searching for is that this decision will affect a great number of minority students which are termed in that way either based off campus or regional populations.

You aren't accounting for percentages

Again when talking about percentages you are referring to students being in the minority.
I team can be made up of minority students of one race or ethnicity and not be diverse.
Also most male athletes at Clemson are black or white. Removing either of those from athletics is not hurting diversity.
Removing soccer or tennis would definitely hurt the diversity of Clemson athletics.

If you’re only counting black as diverse then sure

But other sports such as tennis have players from all over the world. (Japan, Spain, Romania , China). Also men’s tennis did have Mike Agee for the past two years. And Historically Clemson men’s tennis has had several black all Americans. (Nathan Thompson, Jarmaine Jenkins)

Get ready ,eventually all non revenue sports will be cut out but money will continue to be pumped into football n basketball at least until socialism fully kicks in years down the road, then there will be no college sports unless govt.is reaping the benefits.

The men and women's track and field programs are maybe the most decorated teams that Clemson has had over the years. Money is the bottom line and Clemson is a football school period. The time to discontinue the track program would have been when the school spent millions building the indoor and outdoor facilities. I guess softball must be a better and less expensive fit for Clemson but will never have the history that track has.

"By cutting it, they will be stripped of an educational opportunity and be forced to return home, many to countries that cannot provide them the same opportunity they're currently provided."
Everyone on scholarship will retain the scholarship through the end of the undergraduate degree. No one will be stripped of opportunities and sent home.

It is sadly ironic that we are cutting out some team sports

at Clemson directly on the heels of the University receiving Sixty MILLION dollars for the Business School. If not for that gift, would we have seen other severe cutbacks on the athletic side? Seems like we should have had some surplus funds, unless the school was already COUNTING on that Sixty Million ahead of time.
