i just did a google search and they say the average football roster in DIv 1 has 118-130 players
so all these kids can stay if they want to.

WR is a position Dabo must look at for portal help, although I feel we may be too late this year. I hear the scholarship numbers and no room, but we have a glaring weakness at this position.
If Ngata, Ladson, Stellato, and Williams had lived up to their billing, we wouldn't be having this conversation. But they didn't, so we are and we need help at WR.

We have put a bunch of WRs into the NFL, many of whom are still playing.
We still have Dabo, known for being a great recruiter AND a former WR and WR coach himself.
We have won national championships fairly recently.
We should be recruiting better at WR. What gives?

Exactly, And we’ve been having great recruiting for top QB’s. Did DJ’s underperforming hurt us that much? Baffling.

I think it likely did. I haven’t studied pass maps but I feel like our passing game has deteriorated considerably the past 2 years, in terms of the variety of passes we throw. I know there were several stats shown during games about avg pass beyond line of scrimmage and it was depressing. We’ll see more next year on how much DJU was the primary cause or just one of many factors.

Tony Horne has not committed I don't believe. He played for Jeff Scott. I would start there. He's a burner that we need to take top of D's. There's also a kid from Charlotte that was not committed last I checked. The problem is we waited too long this year. I put out a list in December of guys we should go after but most are gone now.

I remember that list. We did pick up hanafin in recruiting and I understand we're going to train him to be a wr. Also signed the 101 rated wr from Greenville.

Wasn’t sure if you were referring to WR recruits out of HS or portal WRs but if it’s the latter, I think we’re late. We’re kinda splitting hairs on semantics with “complacent” but I think our approach to the portal is purposeful and completely above board on stale, dated NCAA rules many other schools simply don’t follow. We’re like the polite driver at the arc de triomphe, letting that car go, waiting for a good place to fit in.
If Clemson is late getting on WRs radar as a transfer destination we’re then (at best) playing catch up on the portal recruiting game once he enters. My concern is we’re not really even in the real portal recruiting game. And what’s worse is that approach isn’t translating to us pulling in big WR recruits out of HS.

These people here believe that Dabo would use the portal if it could help us, and since he hasn’t used it there must not be any beneficial players in it.
Acknowledging that there are some very good players in the portal who have gone to programs better than us makes these posters very uncomfortable.
Their current rationalization for this is that those players were tampered with illegally and/or paid money we don’t have. Presto, Dabo is off the hook, and gets bonus points for “doing things the right way” to boot.

It's not enough just to say, "Go after this guy." Those players have to want to come here as well. That's the big issue. You guys are avoiding the issue that those top level players don't want to come here like in years past, whether in recruiting or the portal.

I think not having a QB that reliability could get you the ball had to be a killer for the last two years. Hard to showcase your talents as a WR when the simple passes are in the dirt or over thrown. Why would they come?

DJ being the starter hurt amongst other things. Like coaching experience. There is a lot of tools that could and can be used against Clemson right now.
