bullchit.
Unless there is video I have not seen, this guy was non-compliant from the get-go and continued to be for the entire time.
There are 4 or 5 grown men trying to get this guy on the ground and get cuffs on him and they can't because Tyre is resisting. The pepper spray seems to do nothing.
Make no mistake, they are not beating a helpless, unarmed black man like we were all led to believe. They are simply trying to constrain him to get cuffs on.
They say "lay with your stomach on the ground" but Tyre does not do it. ### are the cops supposed to do?
I have not seen 5 sec of video that would tell me these cops should be charged.
Maybe I have not seen the horrible/horrendous/etc. parts that so many (of these snowflake virtue signaling libs) people have talked about, but this is a non-compliant criminal, potentially hyped up on drugs, and the media/etc. are 2nd guessing it all.
If there are riots over this, the country is worse off than I imagined.

5 men could have easily gotten cuffs on Nichols. Easily. Repeatedly slugging, kicking and stomping him in the head was totally unnecessary. Killing him, which is exactly what they did, was totally unnecessary.
It pisses me off too when I see suspects resisting, fighting with, and running from police who are otherwise just doing their job. They do it, not out of fear, in my opinion, but because they know that most cops will only use as much force as needed, which may result in them being able to escape. That may very well have been what Tyre Nichols was thinking in the beginning, I don't know, but what I do know is that these cops went waaaaaay over the line, and killed Nichols unnecessarily.

okay, still looking, but the entire event cannot be reduced to 3 or 4 kicks to the head after the officers have been fighting the dude to get down for XX minutes. W T F is going on when pepper spray, etc. are not working?
I'm just saying, this could be a case of monday morning QB'ing. Where is the video before the car was stopped? What was he doing? It's relevant, maybe, but I have not seen it.

I read the Fox article. One of the cops says 'he's on something.' We know when people are on PCP or whatever that basically nothing will stop them.
At what point during this scenario are the cops supposed to back off and open themselves up to risk?
Don't get pissed off at the question...it's just a question.
If you carefully follow the chronology of this situation, IMO, it is not as bad as it is made out to be. No officers are trained to kick people in the head for sure, but no training prepares you for a situation when pepper spray and 4 guys cannot get the guy in cuffs.
Thought experiment. Fast forward to a future trial of these officers. What is the difference if the jury is made up of former police officers vs. the average citizen who has never come close to the life threatening situation we saw?

I’m not sure where the video of the beginning is, but the police Chief said in a statement that the “reckless driving” which is the reason for the stop, can not be found anywhere… that’s right no evidence from dash cams, or body cams, or pole cams, that are everywhere. I am guessing she is doing a thorough search.
To your point, about the use of force. Police are not allowed to kick a suspect in the face while being held down by others, nor hold a guy up while another officers plays the knock out game with him, nor are the cops allowed to not even attempt to render aid….
This is plain and simply excessive force, and they should all go to jail (hopefully convicted)

I might agree with excessive force, but not sure it should go to murder charges.
The cops were not intending, IMO, to kill the guy. Why would they? They were simply trying to get the guy restrained and in handcuffs.
If I were a leftist, of course I would scream that you are racist and want the black cops convicted no matter what they did.

For the reason you say is why it’s not 1st degree murder. I don’t feel like these cops set out to murder him. I do believe that egos were bruised from running from him and not being completely compliant. These cops wanted to teach him a lesson. By definition they used more force than was necessary to effect an arrest. 3. 4, or 5 grown large men trained in policing should be able to get cuffs on with beating the #### out of a person to do it. If they can’t and that results in a death … well that’s where we are now

And just because you don't like it or agree with it doesn't mean that it's not lawful and reasonable. There are certainly bad, crooked cops out there, but you're almost always better off cooperating and not resisting, even if you've done nothing wrong.

DO show the cop your driver's license when you get pulled over.
DO cooperate when they try to cuff you after reading you your rights after finding drugs in your car.

It's in previous posts, but I'll go again.
If cops pull you over and ask you to get out of the car and drop your pants and bend over, that's not reasonable or legal.
If cops barge into your house without a search warrant, and no crime has been committed, that's not reasonable or legal.
You are not obliged to cooperate in those situations.
If a cop pulls you over, says you were clocked going 10MPH over the speed limit, and asks to see you driver's license, cooperate. That's legal and reasonable.
If a cop pulls you over, finds drugs in your car, and tries to put the cuffs on you, don't resist or struggle with the cops. You're being arrested for breaking the law. You're not being unjustly harrassed. It's legal and reasonable.
There are endless scenarios both ways and if you really can't tell the difference, I can't help you, but you are most likely a moran.

Okay, saw the kicking video this morning, along with the punching from the surveillance cam (not body cam). Yep, 100% agree that is off-the-charts.
But, if we want to understand why this happened, a systematic analysis has to be done from the beginning, prior to the stop.
And, it's okay to be emotionally charged by this, but that's not how you understand and dissect why and how it happened.
And it does not help to portray this from the get-go as what it ended up being. Initially the guy was non-compliant, did not listen to instructions, and ran from cops. So W T F? What is going on? If when recounting or describing the situation you leave this part out, then you are not being objective.
It is a fair question to ask, not that it makes ANYTHING right that happened afterward, but it is a fair question to ask "how does this situation end if the victim gets on this stomach and lets the cops cuff him next to his car?"
If you can't ask and think about that question, then get out of the conversation trying to analyze why and how.
I personally believe the number of cops (5) was a factor in that they fed off one another escalating the violence. If only one of them would have stepped in to de-escalate, the outcome could have been different. But, it's like a riot - the 'group' sort of loses its mind and does things that each individual may not do by themselves.

So why do you think that the African-American cops were fired? Have you seen white cops immediately fired for similar incidents? Why do you think that is?
all that said...
It would have been helpful had there been footage of the initial traffic incident. We join the action when he's being dragged out of his car. And at that point, he's the only one who sounds calm.
Five big cops can't get the guys arms behind his back? And the cops escalated force in a hurry... pepper spray and an attempt to taze him? That he got away initially was pretty shocking - but I'm not surprised that he was running for his life.
The next video, more spraying and tazing, kicking, punching. While he's calling for his mom. Before he slumps to the ground at the end.
It is a weird incident in (speaking to some horrific police behavior in this country) we've all seen a lot worse out of cops. But that they were acting like athletes in the locker room after a game, rather than showing any concern for the young man, afterwards, was the kicker.
