I am facing a conundrum for tomorrow. Like many of you, I always wear Clemson gear on each Clemson game day – whether I am attending the game or not.
When Clemson hosted App St two weeks ago, Mrs. CBProf had already stepped out of the house to run some errands early in the day. That’s when I uncovered an old Clemson t-shirt that my wife definitely does not like. Ironically, it was her mother who gave me the shirt many years ago.
I do have a good history with this shirt. For example, I accidentally left it in the closet of my hotel in Phoenix after the 2016 Fiesta Bowl blowout over Ohio St (Good Times for sure!). The Phoenix hotel staff was kind enough to find it and mail it back to me. But, I had not worn this shirt during a Clemson game in many, many years. After finding it two weeks ago, I put it on for the App St game thinking that maybe a change of pace would be good for all involved. We all saw how the App St game went!
So, here’s the conundrum:
Mrs. CBProf has been very clear in her opinion of this shirt. She thinks that the sleeves do not look right. She also thinks that the paw does not look right. And the fact that the fabric includes some polyester probably does not help.
Basically:
- My wife hates the shirt. (And, as we all know: “Happy Wife – Happy Life”)
- I had not worn the shirt in many, many years. But, when I did wear it, Clemson played its best game in many, many years.
Coincidence? Hmmm?
Bottom line: What do I choose?
What choice do I make on Saturday for watching the game (I will be watching at home):
- Choice 1: My Wife (Mrs. CBProf)?
Or
- Choice 2: My Mistress (Clemson Athletics)?

back to a shirt she likes and it's a win-win situation. If she catches you, have some roses handy and cook her favorite meal tonight or go to HER favorite restaurant tonight.
This didn't work for me. I didn't have the roses readily available. That's why I'm divorced.

My affinity for Clemson football has caused me a lot of angst in my relationships over the years. I now keep them completely separate. I go to games with friends, I watch games with friends, or by myself a few times. I would say without a doubt do what your wife requests. Football is not worth creating friction. I am very careful not to let football cause any problems between me and my beloved wife. It’s just not worth it, and for whatever reason, I have never had a relationship with a woman that REALLY liked football

Tell her she's more important than the shirt and to prove it you will go out and buy a new shirt. Then wear the new (wife approved) shirt over the old (more important) shirt and enjoy some Tiger football!

Just be sure to get her some orange socks to wear. I definitely have a keeper. If the game isn't going well she will go upstairs to watch it and not come down until it is over. Fortunately most of the time the Tigers come back to win.

I think skin contact is what makes it special, not its outward appearance (talking about the shirt, not the wife). So, wear a button up shirt over this one and everyone will be happy.

Before you know it, you've lost your "masculinity" which is why she (likely) fell in love with you in the first place! When my (second) wife started telling me what to wear, I told her where to go. I wear what I want to wear, and I pointed out to her, that that was something she initially told me that she "loved" about me!
So all of a sudden, I lost my good taste?
Not so fast, honey...
Wear what makes you feel like the man that you want to be, and if she doesn't like it, well...work on it, if that's your desire. But...
I say "Happy King, Happy Queen!"
Women (really) want a man to be strong. Try it and see for yourself!
