Hope he has a full recovery. It looked bad when it happened. And I really believe that he was going to be a big part of our second half game plan and the injury contributed a lot to our second half offensive issues. Using our featured RB to return kickoffs has made me nervous going all the way back to Spiller for just this reason. Hopefully the 2 weeks we have between games will help get the next man and game plan ready.
Good luck Jay! Looking forward to seeing you next year.

I think Dabo said both Haynes and Randall's returns were supposed to be fair catches. Both returned the kicks. One was awesome, one disastrous. Sorry Jay decided to try it. Delighted Adam took it 39 yards. Just the way things go sometimes.

Jay has returned several this year just like that one - terrible

He has two returns that netted us positive yards - a 28 yarder against App St and a 26 yarder against Stanford. The other 9 returns averaged 15 yards putting us 5-10 yards on average behind what a fair catch would give. I'm glad he was told to stop returning them out of the end zone because he is a terrible kick returner. I was screaming at the TV when he returned the one in the SMU game because it also lost us about 10 yards.
At least with Randall's return, he caught the ball at the 5 and it is the most efficient use of time to gain yardage.

You are right. I stand (I'm out of my seat) corrected. Good call by you and Dabo.

Really hope Eze gets his share of carries, he's probably got the freshest legs of all of them. Mafah doesn't even fall under the "Nobody is 100%" category, he is just flat out hurt and lost his main attribute of being able to truck guys.

I know this is nowhere equivalent to high school, but Jarvis Green is one of the best I have ever seen with my own eyes at the high school level.
If he could scratch together anything close to any of his high school performances on Saturday we could shock a few folks I believe.

I agree he was very good. I guess its just a matter of the guys in front of him, ability to pick up blitzes and overall understanding of the offense. Talent wise I thought he should've been a high 4* RB out of high school.

I, too, have been surprised at his lack of ability to get on the field

but considering the coaches haven't trusted him with the score up 40+ points but only a few times in two years, if he gets his chance to shine in Austin we have had some bad things go our way...

I saw him play against North Augusta in high school his senior year. This was before he had his offer from Clemson. I was amazed at the time he did not have bigger offers. Of course the Dutch Fork offensive line made most high school O-lines look super puny...

I wholly agree. While I love a healthy Mafah, he hasn't been a positive factor for the team while playing injured. Time for him to sit on the sidelines, us play the other guys and see if they step up.

IMHO….Mafah doesn’t need to see the field…..he’s basically been ineffective for 3-4,games now. I know he’s hurting and the warrior in him is not liking the side line he so often seeks lately….😩 Go Tigers…!!! 🏈🏈🏈

Don’t forget that even while hurt he has been very effective in pass blocking for us.

Offense was much better with Haynes getting some snaps

hate that he was being used on kickoffs at the point but we use starters (Ellington, Shipley) as returners historically - hadn't really been burned yet (although Shipley did get a minor injury on big return)

For Mafa - no amount of rest will cure a torn labrum, I know, have had one.

This is highlighting a problem of too much focus on Mafah this year. We should have been rotating some other backs into the game especially when they have show to be as effective as Mafah. Now, we have an injured Mafah and the backups are mostly inexperienced. I am sure they will do great, but I just wish they had more snaps under their belt.

Heal fast JayHay... We are all rooting for you. Coach Swinney and Coach Spill need to start looking at and mentioning #23 in that RB room. Hardest worker, fastest, strongest (only Keith is stronger), smartest (3.95 gpa) 5-tool, best jump cut and accelerator in that room. White dudes can play RB too...
