I have to agree with you on this. Phil Mafa was an absolute warrior when he played injured through the entire season, but was not a true threat to break off a 70 yard TD every time he touched the ball.

Diving into Clemson’s 2025 run game?
This whole article is a nonsense. Clemson’s 2025 run game stats are; 0 carries, 0 yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 fumbles, 0 yards lost……just like every single other team.
This simple minded garbage about this years team will be like last years team is mind numbingly childish.
If you extrapolate this idiocy far enough, then Greece & Egypt are the most powerful countries in the known world.
Today’s journalists must have descended from Irishmen running around the countryside looking for unicorns & leprechauns.

Not much Irish in me, but just talking football here. I don't think the piece is saying everything will be like last year.
It's July 12, the real stuff will be here soon enough.

Honestly none of those stats are large enough of a sample size to say much of anything other than Mafah was our best option which we already knew.

Thanks Brandon. Any FBT is appreciated. I would have to say this is the number one concern. Yes, I agree with the op that Gideon has the guns, but etn did too.. but there was a reason etn didn't play much as a frosh.
It's no concern that we have guys in the room that'll get yac. But who can keep Cade from getting blown up. It concerns me that we had to play a beat up mafah. I'm really hoping that EZ can be that guy. Because everyone should know that lsu will try to exploit it.

I suspect we will see Riley drop OPH back into pass protect to aid the RBs and pick up blitzes , when he feels it is most urgent to do so.
It won't be entirely the responsibility of the RB
He's an excellent blocker and knows the schemes. If the fans are aware of the challenge of our fresh-faced RB room to master blocking assignments I would be disappointed in an OC of Riley's caliber to not recognize that and address it.

Several options that can be considered to slow down a pass rush/ blitzing team:
Altering the snap count
Hurry up tempo so that the defense can’t substitute or get calls in
Slide protection
Swing the back out of the backfield to force the LBs to cover
Screens to RB or TE/ WR

Thanks a million. All of you. I like slipping Randall out the backfield. As y'all have eluded to, use him like 49ers deebo. Run it a few times and get the D cheating, them wham, Moore or AW down the seem for a TD.

Regardless of what we the fans see or hear about any player returning for the 2025 season, the coaches see them every day and they are the ones making the decisions of how they will use every player on the team bc they know them better than any fan could possibly know them...
