What has gone on with these weaker program's players thinking Clemson is slipping?

We looked BAD on offense last year - all year so it doesn’t surprise me at all that these teams now have hope.

I don't expect any player on any team that we will play this coming season to say that Clemson will beat us, they are are just better than us. If that's what any team players are saying, why bother getting ready for us, just say we forfeit the game against Clemson. That, won't, happen bc all of them believe they have a chance, and they do, last season proved that a lot of teams had a chance....

So did the guy in "Dumb and Dummer". I think we will be just fine, and I'm sure you do, too. Those looking past Clemson may take a few weeks, but they, too, will be saying, "but, but, I thought Clemson wasn't going to be very good. It's been all over the news". They will find out soon enough.

Perhaps you were too busy bashing our basketball program

and missed the 2021 football season.
Every year from 2015-2020, we won our division, won the conference championship, and made the playoffs. Four of those years, we made the national championship game. Two of those years, we were national champions.
Last year, we didn’t win or play for a national championship, didn’t make the playoffs, didn’t win the ACC, and didn’t win our division.
How is that not slipping?!?
Now, if you want to talk about whether or not last year’s disappointing performance will continue this year, that’s a logical question and thankfully there are many good reasons to believe that we will be better.
But you can’t blame people for viewing our program differently after last season. That’s just human nature.
P.S. We are going to murder GT.

Absolutely murder them. If we don’t it will be a bad sign as to what’s to come. I honestly believe this is one of those statement games for the program. Even though it’s GT. It’s a statement game to show the world of college football. Not that Clemson is back, we were never gone, but that buckle y’all’s chinstraps because last year was last year and this year be afraid be very afraid!!

QB play and injuries. Not "slipping".
As much as you'd like to think one season, where the football team achieved more than basketball has in their best season under Brad, is "slipping" it just isn't supported. "Slipping" insinuates a trend, not one anomaly data point.
You just keep trying and trying to drag the football program down to basketball's level to share in the misery, but as with everything basketball related, you failed.

unless the QB play improves drastically from last year, then we will be vulnerable in a majority of our games this season. We can't, game after game, have our offense be glad handing the opponent's defense a TD. We easily could have lost 6 or 7 games last year, so to think it will be any different this year without QB improvement is naive, so until I see that, I can see where our opposition is coming from.

into Dabo's rhetoric. The one time we saw the QB's play was the Spring Game, and our starter looked worse in that than he did at any point last season, which I didn't even know was possible. So please bestow your knowledge on me of what I missed? I do think Cade is a more viable option and better fit for this offense than anything we had last year, but Dabo is already backing himself into the corner to support DJU through hell or high water. I hope I'm wrong, but as long as DJU is the starter nothing on this offense will change and we will be vulnerable in most of our games this year.

Exactly our stand out receivers in that game were walkons… how you expect a qb to look? And the offensive lines were pieced together.. our defensive line is way to deep and qbs had no time.. we want know what to expect until we play a live game and even then we really want know until probably NC State

Take a look back at Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence. You know that Dabo will go for the one who is most successful on the field. Don't kid yourself, Cade is competing for the starting job and will push DJ. Competition is healthy.
May the best player win.

I do agree that DJ looked very mediocre in the Spring game. I do know, however, that Spring games are no good indicator of reality. The teams have good and not so good players on each roster, but in the Fall when all the best players are together, it can be very different. I sure hope DJ is a lot better than that Spring game performance showed, because I saw nothing in that game that gave me the kind of confidence I was hoping to see. We'll know shortly.

It would take a Richie Tenenbaum-esque meltdown for DJ to regress versus last season, but the thought has to be in the back of every Tiger fan’s head that it is possible.
Where the situation improves is around DJ. The line should be a bit better. The RB’s are more experienced with a settled rotation and the WR’s are at least healthy to start..
Plus, if DJ goes down or stinks up the joint, at least we have a highly rated back up who is worth investing reps in. Nothing personal against Taisun, but it always felt like he was a inevitable transfer and we were wasting valuable game reps on him.

Agreed. Poor QB/offensive play makes us vulnerable in most of our games. There were quite a few “givens” in the past that were nail biters last year, with the offense giving away TD’s to the opponents D, in very close games.
There’s been a lot of smack talk though, from Loserville’s QB and now from GT. We’ll know the deal (QB improvement) by halftime of the GT game. I hope our offense/DJ plays lights out, no worries with our D though they can’t play 80%+ of the time and expect our offense to come from our D.
All saw the complete dysfunctional offense last year. We have new coaches and have had time to fix it. No excuses.
Go Tigers !!!

We may have had a bad year on offense and there may be some teams that get us this year too. But it won’t be Georgia Tech. We won 10 just with our defense last year including some key injuries. Preseason wins are cheap. Kid should’ve been a Coot.

Why shouldn't GT be confident? They were on our 2 yd with a chance win. This is same coach speak that Dabo is saying about DJ as he was saying about Kelly b. Only difference is he is saying DJ still have to prove it on the field. The worst outcome would be for DJ to improves and play enough for us to win every game by 2 td and keep his starting position. Then come playoff time we get blown out of the waters. With the games being 2 td margin Cade would not have gotten much playing time during the season and won't make much difference in the playoffs if he has to come in during the game. My hope is DJ plays like his freshman season against GT or suck like last yr and Cade becomes the starter by 2nd or 3rd game. We got 2 tough games starting on the 4th week I believe against wf and nc state. If we lose to one of them we could be out of the playoff because we would win out and not play for acc championship. I can see nc state going 11-1

New offensive coordinator, new defensive coordinator and Georgia Tech is the first team up to find out what is likely in store for Clemson's opponents. I am thinking it is more likely GT gets steamrolled than GT dominates.

beat Clemson.
Of course, we shall see. New OC and new DC. But neither one is new to the game.
But last year we had an injured and overweight QB, no viable back-up QB, injured WRs, and an unproved RB roster early in the season.
This year, knock on wood, we are at least starting healthy.
Our QB is healthy and has trimmed down.
We have two new QBs to back him up...one older that could help execute a game plan and one potential phenom freshman.
We have three awesome RBs to rotate through.
And perhaps even a better defense than last year.
I think last year was the year to catch us, and to Pitt and NCSU's credit, they did.
Our last five regular season games last season we scored at least 30 each time.

Two thoughts. First if you are not the defending Champion, you are nothing until you prove yourself and win. We can do that. Second, stealing signs is part of the game. You have to be good enough to make the play, period. Sign stealing is a non issue.

This stuff from GT and NCSU is comical...
With a healthy d-line and the depth we have....our offense won't need to score much to beat either team...
Our defense was championship caliber last year...it may be better this year....
On offense - we are more solidified on the o-line and have a viable option at 2nd string QB if DJU falters....the offense will be better...it would be hard to be worse....
So...Defense...likely better...Offense couldn't be worse...
Bad news ACC....last year was the year to beat Clemson....for those of you that did...great job on getting a sucker punch in on the champ....he's pissed now though...
Enjoy your cigars and talking sh*t......payback is coming...

Two thoughts. First if you are not the defending Champion, you are nothing until you prove yourself and win. We can do that. Second, stealing signs is part of the game. You have to be good enough to make the play, period. Sign stealing is a non issue.

PLENTY OF BULLETIN BOARD MATERIAL

I love the fact that the entire league is disrespecting Clemson. What they fail to realize is that Clemson had a majority of the starters and even some 2nd Team guys out with injuries most of the season. I hope this feeds an insatiable appetite for destruction whenever Clemson takes the field against these classless clowns ??. I hope they’re not satisfied until the score is 70-0. Even if there’s 10 seconds left on the clock and it’s 1st and goal and the score is 63-0, I hope the Tigers punch it in as a reminder that Clemson is still alive and well.
LEAVE NO DOUBT AND BRING THE PROPER ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT TO THESE NAY SAYERS AND REMIND THEM WHERE THE TIGERS COME FROM.
Go Tigers ??

I don't know what people that want to see the game are going to do. There has been such a rush to buy tickets that it is already sold out. It's going to be an SEC type game with 100,000 fans there. This will, no doubt, set an ACC record for attendance. YeeHeeHawHaw!! 40,000 LOL!!! Some left wing liberal democrat running the show?? LOL!!

last year. Hopefully, last year was their only chance - and they missed it.
Other programs definitely smell blood in the water.

Far from it but, the last thing I would want to do before playing the Tigers is P—- them off before kickoff!

Good for him. If a Clemson player ever said he thought we were going to lose we'd think it was awful. Anyone who thinks an opposing player should say anything else should have their head examined.

Then they have a rude awakening coming! Doesn't matter how "motivated" these other teams are by the close loses, these Clemson players are more motivated to right the ship, there is going to be murder trials set for the Clemson football team for murdering every team they play this season.

top ten teams. You can develop most of your starter in three years but you won't have depth with developed skill until the fifth year.
I respect the kid's confidence but he's not weighing Clemson, he's only weighing his team.

If there were ever a slogan to respond to all of these teams, it has to be "Go ahead, Underestimate us, that will be fun"

If we aren’t ahead by more than 2 touchdowns after the first half of the GT game...it is probably going to be a loooong season.
