I am for Deandre 100%. He can occasionally have drama, but he always has grit. Swinney heard him in 2020. If Nuk does not acknowledge that, he doesn't acknowledge that. He's NUK. He will always be NUK-- 4th and ... 16? 17? 101? He is a Clemson Tiger--- one of the best ever--- past, present, and future. And it seems to me that he carries that greatness in the Pros-- regardless where he plays.

game. Kyler has a tendency to try to do everything himself and Hopkins is like throw me the ball when i'm covered and i'll catch it 80% of the time. Which is true. But if Kyler sees press coverage he automatically looks elsewhere. I agree with Hopkins on that one.

Not to sound like a smart ### but I'm not sure that this board understands the impact that certain players can have on a team via their contract. When he signed the contract it was a stake in heart of the Cardinals. 54 million over two years didn't fit their cap space and players had to be jettisoned or not be signed. It did not work out at all. His performance was only average and complicated by the PED suspension and some injuries. Cards are just starting into a 230 million 5 year deal with Kyler Murray who was not having a great year before a torn ACL. A complete mess that resulted in 4 wins on the year.
Based on his stats, few teams will want to assume the balance of 34 million still owed to Nuke. Cards are in a jam. Possibly have to pay someone part of Nuke's salary to get him off the payroll.
As is so many cases, he got a contract based on past performance and his current performance does not match his salary. The is the Julio Jones debacle on a smaller scale (which destroyed the Falcons).
The Jags need that salary like they need a hole in the head. They have drafted well and gone from 1 win to 9 wins in two seasons. They need players but not at 27 million per year for a WR on the downside of his career.
TL's got to be the best deal in football at 9 million per year for two more seasons. Go Jags

Pretty much every sport pays players for past performance and they have to stay on top of the game for a LONG time to justify the payments.
NFL typically does not have guaranteed contracts, but at least Hopkins doesn't have to worry about that, I assume?
In baseball it can be really bad where they are paying a player top dollar 5 to 10 years after they've stopped producing.
I really only care about former NFL players, not the NFL or the NFL teams so I'm fine with a team screwing itself into the ground and overpaying one of our guys.
I don't know that there is an answer for this except to be as cut throat as Belichik and surround one or two highly paid stars with a revolving cast of really well chosen less well paid players.
In nearly every case where they aren't hunting a championship this year it makes sense to NOT pay a veteran under a new salary except for some QBs and even those are iffy.

I’m an NFL guy and I believe the Cards brought this on themselves.
Hopkins contract was based on his performance (look at his numbers) and the market. Good contract.
Murray took them to the cleaners and shortly proved he was not worthy of that contract. He a 5’10” video gamer who didn’t like to watch film. Bad contract.
Hopkins in Jacksonville would be great and even better if Cards are paying part of his salary.

Ridley. They don't need another WR1. So I think the best place for him is KC if they can afford him. They don't really have a WR1 and they compete for Super Bowls. Dhop has been on enough loser teams. I'd like to see him play this last bit of his career for a winner.
