Interesting Slides on Electroindustry Investment....

Sitting in on a NEMA meeting on tax policy developments and thought the 2 attached files might be interesting. A lot of electroindustry investment in SC and GA over the last 6 years. My company's new factory investment is part of this number, albeit a small part of this big number.

Watching the IRA 48C credit closely in what's happening in Congress right now.

What exactly are they doing? My take was anything remotely connected to the IRA they were going to set on fire - with gasoline - and then hit with a meat mallet, even if it was perfectly sensible and made money and even if the money was already spent. Donald seems to go out of his way to gleefully kill anything that remotely threatens the oil industry, he's like what would happen if an Exxon oil exec and Dr. Doom had a love child.

Are you thinking there's any chance 48c survives the carnage?

will stand on its own and that in the end it'll be scalpel instead of sledge hammer. There is GOP support for certain parts of the IRA even though they voted against the entire package. About the same as my personal feelings.

But everything said was prefaced with a "who knows what the admin will do".

Oh, no doubt. You're way closer to the core issues than I am on most of this but my wheelhouse is the EV's, and just one thing I was tracking with interest was that Biden was financing Combined Charging System standards even as most of the industry had already switched over to Tesla's North American Charging Standard. I'm no fan of Musk, but I'm also politically agnostic when it comes to buying stuff and if Musk's standard was better - and most folks in the know seemed to think it was better - go in that direction, and stop doing what the Gubmint always tends to do which is spend way too much on crap that's outdated before it was ever installed.

I have zero doubts much of the rest of the IRA was riddled with wrongheaded crap like that I'm just not educated on enough to know about.

But at least in regards to EV's, the IRA was still very much in the right direction. Truthfully that's about all you can reasonably expect out of Gubmint.
