Apparently the transfer fee Venezia paid FC Dallas was something like $3 to $4 million dollars, which gives you some idea of the value they placed on him. They rated this kid highly.
Venezia's freshly-promoted out of Serie B so they're going to have to fight like he!! to stay up and every week they're going to be grinding their wheels off against bigger, stronger clubs with more money than they have, Italian power clubs like Juventus, Roma, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Napoli, so it's going to be incredibly tough for him...but it also means he's going to get his chances, too. A club like Venezia's not going to pay that much money for him just to sit him; they can't. It's ride or die with him, as much as they paid.
(Gulp!)
That's the big-time, in European soccer. It's gonna be hard, but also incredibly exciting. And it's also how you get way better, as a young player. (Or get obliterated so bad you never wanna play soccer again!)

... with good skills, but this move will take him to the next level and help hone his technical and tactical skills.
After a couple of years in Serie A (assuming Venezia stays up), he’ll be joining the US National team as a much better player and IMO earning more than just a few minutes on the field at the end of games.
We are entering into the “Golden Age” of US Men’s Soccer and if Tanner listens, learns, works his tail off, and mimics the play of other top Italian players successfully, he could be a mainstay on the USMNT for years to come at a very special time.

Well, it's sink or swim.
Some of 'em rise - Pulisic, McKinnie, Tyler Adams - others don't work out so well. Matt Miazga failed at Chelsea. Timothy Weah didn't work out at PSG and has struggled to get minutes at Lille. Julian Green failed at Bayern, though he did go back up this year with Gruether Furth and was probably one of the best players in the B2; dude has really come on though it took him until age 26 to do it.
Hoping for the best for him, though. Serie A is no joke.

Would be sweet if he could eventually help take the US National team to a new level. Wish him the best. Maybe Dabo will be visiting Italy soon to catch a match. That’d be a pretty cool Vlog.
