Cade making some lousy decisions. I’m not saying anyone voting watched the whole thing, but all it would take after the trend we are on is to see a highlight film with Cade’s horrible INT or that we were down 7-14 to Chas Southern for someone to make a snap judgement.
Our preseason 9 was the last benefit of the doubt we are going to get for our past success. We have a body of work to overcome now before anyone on the national stage thinks we aren’t a pretender.

Cade caused the drop. Obviously I don't think nearly 700 yards of total yards vs under 100 total allowed while playing 10000000 players didn't do it either. I don't think these voters probably watched a single snap of the game.
We were dropped due to a number of other teams moving to 2-0 having had beaten at least 1 team with a pulse.
And yes, verdict is out on this group. 1-1 with a win against a shid team and a loss against a team named Duke probably derserve the unranking.

it's too sophisticated to go by score alone. They also consider portal use and NIL dollars per player, SEC membership or not, years of staff coaching experience, stuff like that.

We just need to play to our ability and beat FAU and FSU in the next two weeks. Do that and the rankings will take care of themselves.
In a way, I like that the media is putting FSU on the highest pedestal while kicking Clemson to the curb. We typically play very well in big games in Death Valley when we are the hunter and not the hunted.
Also - if there was ever a year our schedule would allow for us to claw back from an early season head scratching loss it is this season. Our regular season strength of schedule is shaping up to better than any in recent memory. As long as FSU, Notre Dame, UNC, and Miami continue to play well and win we will have the opportunity to climb back into the top of the football charts. If we beat all of these teams then that Duke loss will look like a "1st game fluke" from the only rankings people that matter - the CFP committee rankings.
So... don't give up on this team yet as there is still a lot of ball to be played.

We lost to Duke with 2 cupcakes to follow. They knocked us down to 25 and we know that when a team plays 2 cupcakes in a row said team will not advance in the polls. All to say, we all knew, or should have known, we would be unranked when FSU comes to town.
