Rough weekend for Trumpkins

Did you see the crowds for Trump's Birthday Parade (that what it was and nothing else... evidenced by attendees wearing Trump #### rather than American stuff)? Empty bleachers. Bored members of his cabinet. Sparse crowds on the Mall. Hell, even Jan. 6 had better attendance. A Clemson-Furman football game packs in more people.
Apparently people started streaming for the exits early when they realized how boring the parade was.
What an embarrassment.
Yet at the protests across the nation, they were swarming with people opposing this wannabe dictator. BTW, did y'all notice how angry and triggered Trumpers got when you mentioned "No Kings Day"? Why does that phrase make em such little rage monkeys?
Meanwhile, a Trumper murdered a Dem politician and his wife and tried to kill others in Minnesota while posing as a cop. Of course, it's not fair to judge an entire group based on one crazy person's actions...
...BUT that didn't stop Trumpkins and some on this board from eagerly rushing to claim this guy was a leftist Dem and indicative of the violence of the left! Who told them he was that? Their usual right-wing Twitter and TikTok sites.
That narrative didn't last long as the killer's best friend did an interview revealing he was a Trumper, that he claimed to be a Christian, he hates LGBTQ movements, hates abortion, etc. And then video evidence of him preaching on stage to foreign congregations.
Oof. Talk about stepping on their #####. And now they suddenly don't want to talk about the guy.
Don't worry, Trumpkins. I'm sure next weekend will be a little easier on you.

out of curiosity. It was actually a good tribute to the Army. The Army folks that they interviewed seemed proud to be there. The history of the Army that was presented was very interesting (to me). As the tanks rolled by (with Army members smiling and waving), I didn't get the feeling of a military "show of strength" that military parades in Russia, China, NK seem to try to convey. I felt a little bad for the Army members that folks didn't show up for it.
NBC showed a split screen at one point. One side showed children saluting the servicemen as they rode by and waved. The other side showed a "No Kings" protest with folks holding up "F*** Trump" and "F*** ICE" signs. It made me feel like folks should have concentrated less on Trump hatred that day and more on pride in the US Army.
EDIT: the "dignitaries" that were there did look incredibly bored...

A egoistic tribute to Trump on his birthday, doing this: "It made me feel like folks should have concentrated less on Trump hatred that day and more on pride in the US Army."
...Would have simply played into his BS and ego.

mentioned once in the festivities (it was mentioned a lot be the media covering it though).
Hypothetically, if someone I despised threw a birthday party for my aunt - I would still go out of respect for my aunt. Otherwise, it might look like my hatred for the host was more than my love for my aunt.

It would be more like, "If a person I hated threw a supposed birthday party for my aunt but it was really all about him and attending would encourage him to do more stupid things if we all show up, I'm going to find another way to support and honor my aunt."

"feels" and if I could have watched/listened without hearing the TV commentators - I wouldn't have known it was also Trump's birthday. It was 99.9% a tribute to the Army.
I'll always show up for my aunt, by the way. : - )

There are a lot of people who simply would not go for any reason, no matter how worthy the cause, because their hatred of the person is so rabidly overwhelming. They'd pretty much say "F*ck their aunt, my hatred is too important".
As I mentioned above, Trump himself is not only responsible for a lot of that, but he thrives on it. On the other side, there are a lot of people who would support absolutely anything he says or does, simply because their hatred for the other side is so warped and all-consuming.

I didn't like the fact there were tanks rolling down the roads in DC, and that it was on Trump's birthday. Bad optics that could have been avoided, and it took away from a celebration of the Army.
But, like most things now, a hyperbolic narrative will be built.
It's like LA - if you're on one side, then the city was about to be burned to the ground. If you are in the other side, the military was going to overthrow the California government and take control. Neither of those things have transpired.
The argument was Trump too heavy handed vs. is there rioting in LA that caused damage that shouldn't have happened and what level of protection does ICE need is not a dramatic enough argument for people.
But, what does add fuel to these narratives is Trump's foolish mouth and foolish posting, which is another reason he is a poor leader.

Idk man, looked like a pretty good crowd from what I saw. Especially in a city that’s a democrat stronghold. Majority of the protests that had the most people were also in democrat strongholds.

If you've ever attended any type of event or rally on the Mall, you'll know that was a bad crowd.

My new favorite part of the parade is when they decided to play CCR "Fortunate Son", A song about wealthy people dodging the draft. Whoever planned that event was trolling Trump hard, and he and Hegseth were too stupid to understand the optics.

I haven’t even seen a photo from the event, nor video.

If the Dems go the way of Fetterman and not the way of AOC, then I think it could be a flip. Otherwise, I'm not so sure.

To stand in the middle of the street screaming while holding a sign that reads " no kings", knowing that they're not going to change one thing about this country. I would think that people would have better things to do with their time. And, when I say special I'm being nice.

Just remember the same morons at these protests cheered covid lockdowns, cheered people being fired for not getting the shot, wanted the unvacced denied medical care and sent to concentration camps, and eagerly ran to the voting booth to vote for someone which not a single person voted to nominate for her spot on the presidential ballot. So their lamentations about not wanting a king sound a bit disingenuous to normal people out there. I am, however, glad that most of them were peaceful and only a relatively few no king idiots were arrested nationwide for violent behavior.
