Your 27 year career also sounds impressive.

Given the year of your BS degree in CE, I’ll make a wild guess and assume that you’re a white guy. If you are gay (which would have been FAR more socially challenging for you in the early / mid 1980s), then I’ve got another ‘socially liberal oriented’ understanding about your hypersensitivity about overall social points of view that clash with your own.

If you are a straight white person (Clemson’s STEM majors were becoming increasingly populated with coeds starting with the 1908s, so it wouldn’t be highly unusual for female CEs to be in the program when you were finishing school), then the gender doesn’t make difference.

I am surprised at the conclusions about racism which you (allegedly) derive from observations and logic, and how you categorize yourself as an independent when your views (at least those which you share on TNet) are distinctly on the leftist extreme of liberalism.

To keep this one from me from getting ridiculously long, I’ll keep the topic on the racism subject and those people who reflexively yell out ‘racist’ when other viewpoints threaten their baseline point of view.

Logical and honest people of all races recognize the following:

(1). Rewards for any given behavior “A” increases the likelihood that more such behavior “A” will take place. (The “carrot.”)
(2). Punishment for any given behavior “B” decreases the likelihood that less such behavior “B” will take place. (The “stick.”)
(3). ‘Ancient’ history (I.e., societal imbalances which took place more than 2 generations in the past) is of minor influence on a person’s behavior vis a vis (1) and (2).
(4). ‘Recent’ history (I.e., current society’s tolerances … and also intolerances … of good and bad behaviors) is recognized by people of today.
(5). The USA has enacted numerous laws over the decades that are discriminate in the favor of blacks; most of those laws are still active.
(6). Some prominent non-govt institutions have enacted policies that discriminate favorably for blacks.
(7). Various prominent entities (public & private) have been (largely) successful with ‘pandering gestures’ to blacks.
(8). Adoption policies have had widespread discrimination against non-blacks who want to adopt black children.
(9). Institutionalized orphanages are a sub-optimal overall alternative to the adoptive home environment.
(10). There are a higher % of black children living in highly dysfunctional homes (variety of reasons) than is the % of non-black children.

Logical and honest Americans of all races recognize the following:

(*). Violent &/or destructive crimes committed by blacks are at rates which far exceed comparable crimes committed by non-blacks.
(*). Blacks are neither better nor worse than non-blacks as far as genetic predispositions.

(???). What, then, are the drivers behind the disproportionate crime rate among blacks vs non-blacks?

(A). Blacks are disproportionately rewarded (relative to non-blacks) with respect to:

‘Social promotions’ (I.e., advanced to the next grade even if they have not fully earned the advancement). False sense of achievement.

Sense of entitlement. Like any demographic that hears a message about how they are owed something that they haven’t earned, blacks are willing to adopt narratives put forth by race-baiting voices (e.g., civil rights charlatans and virtue signaling white panderers) that they ‘deserve’ money (reparations, etc.).

Sense of superiority via soft propaganda. The whole capitalizing of the “B” in Black is soft propaganda to lead blacks to believe that they have some special ‘extra respect’ vs non-blacks, with that ‘extra respect’ not being justifiable on anything other than simply ‘being black.’

Knowledge that blacks are held to lower standards re: criminal behavior than non-blacks. The ‘Hate Speech’ laws make it OK for blacks to scream horrible invectives towards non-blacks (and to other blacks) with impunity. This mid-placed tolerance frequently leads blacks to incite other blacks to violence. But, no ‘hate speech’ charges can be filed … because they are black.

ESG criteria which discriminate favorably for blacks. ESG factors in applying for loans, getting grants, etc. give blacks a sense of unearned entitlement. The link between sacrificing short term gratification in exchange for long term advantage is thus weakened for blacks.

(B). Blacks are disproportionately under-punished (relative to non-blacks) with respect to:

Institutionally sanctioned policies to lower the prosecutions and to reduce sentences of blacks who commit crimes. Many major municipalities across the country (large urban municipalities come immediately to mind) that ‘socially engineer’ their racial mix of prisoners to reduce the number of blacks in prison. Blacks know this; this is a de facto ‘unearned reward’ for simply being black.

‘Social’ stigma applied to blacks for anti-social activities (including but not limited to the following) is less than that which befalls non-blacks that engage in the same behavior. (*) . This is a key aspect of white people’s ‘bigotry of low expectations’ about blacks.
. . . . . . . Drug dealing
. . . . . . . Petty theft
. . . . . . . Out-of-wedlock children
. . . . . . . Physical violence to other blacks
. . . . . . . Physical violence to non-blacks

(???). Is it any wonder why blacks commit disproportionately more crimes than non-blacks? That ‘civil rights’ race baiters and white liberal virtue-signaling enablers do somersaults to avoid taking the blame for this … choosing instead to ‘blame’ it all on MAGA / white Christian / ‘toxic white male-ness ‘ … speaks to their sociopathic willingness to promote the continued degradation of the ‘black community’ for, in large part, those psychological reasons that I had detailed previously.

OK, I see that you are claiming the high ground by regaling yourself as a social justice warrior, as proven by others calling you a “N lover.”

I know how phonies like you operate. How do I know? I was one of them. Yankee transplant, integration had just started when in public school, rural SC town with ~ 45% whites and 45% blacks. The locals were unkind, which I could pretty much handle because I was more physically capable than most of the other white kids. My mom, however, was very unhappy about the catty women and her sense of social isolation. In her frustration, she spoke to me about how these redneck black hating local women were awful.

To show my disdain for the local people, I purposely hung out with a couple of the black kids who were not popular with the other black kids. I didn’t do this because I found these sad black kids to be fun; I did it as a gesture of virtue signaling (before the term virtue signaling had been coined).

Wanting to expand the awareness in others to my virtuous anti-redneck behavior, I tried to hang out with some of the non-outcast black kids. To my surprise, I got pushed around and ridiculed by the other black kids (of whom I was not ‘more physically capable). I didn’t catch on at the time, but later I figured it out.

I was a virtue signaling phony.

My ‘gestures of friendship’ didn’t fool the black kids (even, as I learned later, those few sad-sack black kids who let me hang around with them because they had no one else).

(*) When starting to play on B-team sports and Pony League baseball, I was now in an environment in which HONEST friendships with blacks (and an expanded group of white kids) could develop. Without the phoniness, I developed NATURAL (as opposed to contrived) friendships.
(*) After I started working in the peach fields (starting in 7th grade), a much broader group of black kids from school (along with several of their mothers) became my work colleagues. We’d laugh, get mad at each other, do our best to tease the foremen, and we’d all sweat like crazy. Go figure … the incidences of being pushed around ridiculed were a thing of the past.
(*). My best friends remained a small group of white kids. It finally dawned on me that ‘virtue signaling’ white people are tolerated by blacks, but never truly trusted. Phonies are easy to pick out … except by other phonies.
