definitely deserved more than the bare minimum 4 years for a new college head coach, so this was definitely not fair move barring any behind-the-scenes scandals/problems

There is a pretty high ceiling...they won a national championship in 1990, I think. 10 years more recent than UGA until last season, to put that in perspective.

He was getting worse, there's no excuse for going backwards. Georgia Tech used to be a solid program. Heck, Paul Johnson won 3 games in Athens and he averaged 8 wins per year. Bobby Ross had some real success there as well. Not sure what the ceiling is for them, but one thing is for sure, Collins set the bar incredibly low.

No love for GT but Collins was setup to fail. He had to change them from the triple option to a pro style and many of their best recruits left. The issues at GT is bigger than just the HC. They need to take football seriously or just drop it.

Maybe GA Tech should hire Clay Helton to be the next sacrificial FB coach.
Like Paul Johnson, C.Helton would be coming to Atlanta as former HC's at GA Southern.
I can't think of any other especially redeeming qualities about C.Helton ... other than that he has won more games at GA Southern so far in 2022 than GA Tech will during the entire 2022 season ... but GA Tech's FB success doesn't matter to me anyways.

Tech will have a difficult time of being relevant again. The portal and NIL will keep them down.
They don't have the commitment from the fan base to support NIL.

While I am all for TNET reporting stories like this, I am troubled a bit by the tone of the story written by Tony Crumpton. The tenor of the story is a little bit too much gloating for me and diminishes the overall character that the typical Clemson fan shows to our competing schools in the ACC. Stick to the facts, tout the losing record and all that, but let's stay away from comments such as "Train Wreck". It is unnecessary and looks like we are relishing in other's misfortunes.
