So the Memphis Grizzlies just fired their head coach with 9 games left in the regular season. I know this is a NBA coach and I know Clemson and the grizzlies situations are not the same here, but hear me out. The Grizzlies just fired their winning head coach in their history because they felt he wasn’t good enough to meet their goals. They figured why delay the inevitable of good not great teams who are above average every year when we can to hire other coach and see if a new guy can win us a championship. And correct me if I’m wrong but I think this is where most of the fire Brownell fans stand. They figure sure Brownell is a good coach we’ll never be truly bad with him, but what is our ceiling? (I think we have seen it after 16 seasons.) And by no means should we fire Brownell after the last two seasons he has led Clemson basketball too. But what would fans say if Clemson is a bubble team the next two seasons? Would it then be time to move on from Brownell? It seems Clemson is in a never ending cycle with Brownell, he seats gets hot he goes on a run then a few disappointing years and then his seat gets hot again and he goes on other run. If Clemson ever wants to seriously compete in the ACC (or sec if we move there) are fans truly comfortable with Brownell leading us?
