Surprise of the game

I was certain we would light that coot reliever up the second time through the lineup. He had good movement on all of his pitches but I knew it was coming, and it never did. I have to wonder if the hitters on both teams were chasing a bit because you didn’t know what the home plate umpire was gonna call any given pitch.

Not an official/ref/ump hater, it is a very tough gig. From the start nobody knew what planet that fella was living on. He had a very high zone and then called a couple in our favor that were clearly too low.

Consistency is the goal as a fan and that was not it.

Didn't feel like the game was in question, as a Purify truther that was a fun moment to see.

Go Tigers!

He did have good movement.

But I agree with tigerswell. Nothing wrong in any sport, bball, soccer, football or baseball as long as it's consistent.

I also thought several of our guys were swinging for the fences too. McCladdie was like he was too amped up. This is good for them to learn from. But I also think some was whst coach said, our swing plane needs to flatten out.

A consistent but wrong strike zone? I agree it’s better than wildly inconsistent. Batters and pitchers can adjust.

But I’m not ok when officials in other sports are wrong, even if consistent. If a football ref never calls obvious holding,s not ok. Same with basketball ref not calling traveling. Wrong is wrong, and being wrong all the time doesn’t really make it better.

In the inning that they scored the runs the pitch was clearly a strike where the runner attempted to steal 2nd base. Instead of a strike them out throw them out double play we had runners on first and 2nd. That missed call could have cost us the game.
