Why is MAGA pushing a spending bill

that will increase the deficit by 4T. What happened to balancing the budget and eliminating the debt. I thought "A Businessman " was elected? 😆

Because the all the money that now stays with the wealthy will trickle down. We will all do better thanks to the trickle down. We will all spend more due to it which will raise more tax revenue and balance the budget. Yeah...that's what will happen.

The largest tax cut in US history or the largest tax increase in US history.
I prefer the former. If passed and you are upset you can always cut a check for the difference and mail it to the treasury.

So we need to give more huge tax cuts to the wealthy? I am all for it. I think we should get rid of Medicare too. We need to slash everything and stop the spending, aside from the military where we should increase spending . We need to cut food for families as well. Whatever it takes. At the same time we need to give the wealthy larger tax cuts. Ideally they would pay no taxes.

Didn't we elect "a businessman" who is suppose to excel in this area? Why has he sucked so far at this and failed to deliver in his promise of eliminating the debt? He said it would be easy. 😆

Please read the Green New Deal and the Inflation Reduction Act from the previous POTUS-less administration.
Get back to me later. And be sure to send your voluntary check in to the treasury asap.

Perhaps hyperbole but the warnings are coming from various different “expert” sources. Consequences include long term impacts to bond markets, stock markets, recession etc.
But did you hear we got a new “used” airplane! It has gold decoration and lots of bathroomds. How cool is that?

Let me go look at my ice core crystal ball and predict the future.
You rubes will fall for anything if it sounds complicated.
Sometimes you should step back, listen to what's being said in totality, and say "That's stupid".
PS, the Wuhan Coronavirus being down the street from the bat soup food truck was just a coincidence ... a 1:73,000,000,000 coincidence.

I think it's reasonable to question the CBO's analysis based on GDP...
1

growth of +1.6% (might be +1.8% - I'm going off memory).
The same analysis using ~+2.4% results in a deficit neutral bill. I think there's a reasonable case to be made that +2.4% is achievable based on the tax plan and reduction of regulations that limit economic growth...AND if sanity prevails on the tariff/protectionism front.
One thing I do know, the CBO estimates/projections are often way off. Just look at their scoring of the previous TCJA. They missed the revenue projection by a pretty big margin (meaning they estimated a lot less revenue than actually came in).

because that's when it hurts. That's why your feelings got so hurt yesterday because you know you were wrong.
Making up a strawman to argue against, just makes you look worse. Because it just shows the gap between our logical reasoning.

Re: Why is MAGA pushing a spending bill
May 22, 2025, 10:03 AM
|
|
First off, the idea that this $4 trillion deficit increase is somehow the fault of “MAGA” is completely dishonest. The current spending bill is a bipartisan package, shaped by negotiations between House Republicans, Senate Democrats, and the Biden administration. If you actually read the bill or follow Congressional developments, you’d know this isn’t some pure MAGA initiative — it’s a political compromise.
Now let’s talk about the numbers. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that interest on the national debt alone will top $1.6 trillion per year by 2033, outpacing defense spending. This has nothing to do with MAGA and everything to do with decades of uncontrolled mandatory spending — namely Social Security and Medicare, which now consume over two-thirds of the federal budget. Neither party has addressed this structurally.
As for the businessman jab — under Trump, pre-COVID economic growth averaged 2.5%, with record-low unemployment (3.5% in Feb 2020), rising real wages (particularly for blue-collar workers), and tax revenues that increased post-Tax Cuts and Jobs Act due to economic expansion. The national debt did rise — largely due to COVID relief spending supported by both parties, including the $2.2 trillion CARES Act, passed 97-0 in the Senate.
Meanwhile, Biden added over $5 trillion in new proposed spending within his first two years — from the American Rescue Plan ($1.9T) to the Inflation Reduction Act ($750B) and more. Don’t pretend this deficit explosion started with MAGA.
If you’re truly worried about the deficit, start asking why Democrats continue to push massive spending with no meaningful entitlement reform, and why neither party is willing to touch the third rail of American politics — mandatory spending. Until then, scapegoating MAGA for a broken budget system that’s been decades in the making just exposes political bias.

We get what we vote for is all I can say here. Nobody wants to hear taxes need to rise on everyone, you are gonna have to pay more in SS/Medicare FICA rates, we may need a VAT. Nobody wins nomination on that platform now do they? Really you are so one sided though, the DEMS spend like drunken sailors in ports after a 6 month tour ,they just spend on different items. Both sides set us up for the same thing, a debt bomb, just admit it and move on.
