I love to look at hurricane forecasts and radar. 40 years ago my wife told me I should have been a meteorologist.
But, I'm not.
However, I saw a meteorologist last night give a fascinating report. Take it for what it is worth. Y'all in Clemson area are experiencing a strange weather situation. There is a slow moving front coming down from the northeast. Look at a radar picture of the entire southeast and you can see here the leading edge of the front is. At the same time, the predominant winds (not from the hurricane) are from the southwest. So, the SW winds are picking up moisture from the gulf, and are being pushed by the front right up through GA, NW SC and NC.
Bottom line for Clemson. The rain you are getting right now is not from the hurricane. If there were no hurricane you would still be getting rain and winds today. The winds and rain from the hurricane will get to you later today and tomorrow.
I know return you to your regularly scheduled message board.

Bret, you nailed it. Last night the rain was coming from the North. Today it is coming from the south and my Tiger Paw flag bears out the 180' wind change. You missed your calling.

Appreciate this post. This weather has been so strange for us and it clearly is not from the hurricane. Thanks for clearing that up. Hurricane weather up next so more drama to come before we get back to sunshine and blue skies.

what is the difference?
IT rains or it doesn't. Does it matter if it comes from low pressure, bomb cyclone, hurricane, a spiteful god?

Correct. There were hail storms south of Nashville. Our engineers will be busy. We’re still looking at Ian damages and one complex damaged by Irma.

Exactly right. I have the same hobby. Growing up in coastal SC, then living in South Florida and St Thomas as adults, we had to stay very conscious of the weather. We were in S Florida for Andrew and Quite a few smaller storms, and a major hurricane (Marylin) hit St Thomas while we were living there in 1995. I don’t trust forecasts more than 24-36 hours out and I make most of my decisions based on looking at the radar myself.
We have been very dry in the SC Upstate this summer. What is happening last night and today is badly needed and welcome. All morning has been just light rain from the cold front. Not so sure about the amount of rain we will be getting overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning. Might be a little too much, too quickly, especially with everything already soaked from this rain.
Whatever happens, it does look like there should be time for things to dry out a little Friday evening and Saturday before the game.

I know nothing about the storm route predictions so I depend on my in home self appointed meteorologist, my wife. She studies the weather like most on Tigernet study sports and call ourselves coach.I say,to each his own.
