I can see dash's point, only because I have a friend who got short of money and dashed for a while. Was surprised at the number of people who didnt offer a tip to someone to drive across town in their personal car to offer a service. I dont see how anybody agrees to do it; seems like too little money to put miles on a car.

Tips are important. Shame on those who don’t tip

"Dashers can pick and choose which orders they want to do.” Amazingly, the zero tip orders are the least appealing for Dashers. It's not extortion to tell a customer what the logical result of their tipping decision will be.

Usually dont tip before services are rendered

Sounds like DD has it backwards …

What f you tip and still dont get your order for 2 hours. Whats your recourse?

It is kinda backwards, though. Promising a decent tip in advance ensures prompt service instead of prompt service resulting in a decent tip. It may not be the driver's fault if it's late, though, and it would suck to lose your tip when you did nothing wrong.

They could just take tipping out of the equation and pay their drivers a flat rate.

Flat rate sounds best

Walmart has used doordash, but I didn't ask them to and so now it costs more because they need the tip instead of using fedex or UPS? A couple of times I received a notice my package arrived and they sent a picture of it sitting on the side of the road 4 miles away.

Flat rate just like all other shipping services, please.

Agree with murc

In an ecosystem where the service provider gets to CHOOSE who to serve, the scales are tipped in their favor. You can hope that they serve you when they don't have guarantee of a decent tip. Or go ahead and be proactive and let the money do the talking. It's the equivalent of slipping a $10 bill to the hostess to get you seated faster. Is it foolproof? No. But there are no guarantees of expedient service the other way, either.

I probably used DD 100 times during Covid and only had an issue a handful of times. If I'm already paying 1.5-2x markup with the fees and food prices, might as well ensure that someone on the app actually GAF about delivering to me on time. The pre-emptive tip isn't required unless you want a fighting chance of getting a driver who's motivated.

I don't get why people go out to eat or order in that don't want to tip. Make a sandwich or something, but don't take advantage of others.

Lol at Doordash - I never use that or any other of those third party delivery

If I am too sick to go to the store or the drive thru

Nov 3, 2023, 10:26 AM

I'm eating soup out of the pantry.

I'll never be to lazy to not pick-up food. I have never called door dash and I don't ever remember even getting pizza delivered.

My wife and kids will in a heart beat though.

man, I'm 0 for 2 on the last two deliveries

1

Nov 3, 2023, 10:32 AM

we've ordered. I'll just call the restaurant and go pick it up. this country is swimming in incompetence so if you gotta order out, better off just going and getting it yourself.

plus you can drink a beer at the bar while they go and get your order.

doordash, ubereats, etc. can EAD.

I don't get food delivery at all. I mean unless you

are stuck at home with a bunch of kids that you don't want to transport with you to get food or a shut-in, why would you pay someone to get food for you ?

After getting a good look at some of the DoorDash couriers in my town

1

Nov 3, 2023, 10:43 AM

I'd rather just go and get my own food.

Seriously - some of these folks don't look like they have bathed in over a week and who knows how they treat your food before delivery. I wouldn't trust some of these folks to bring me food for my pets much less something I'm going to eat. Are there any kinds of standards/sanitation requirements for DoorDash couriers? If so - how is it even enforced since DoorDash is largely an online operation?

From what I've seen it looks like anyone can sign up to be a DoorDasher with little to no oversite. No thanks - I'll just go get my own food and leave the DoorDash folks to their own devices...

2025 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgtnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree, some of these guys look like they're more likely than not to

1

Nov 3, 2023, 10:48 AM

JO all over your food. No way I would trust some crusty looking neanderthal to handle my meal, their cars are probably nastier than a USC porta potty during a night game too.
