These are the kinds of things that if said by a run-of-the-mill politician, would result in them being run out of office, or they would get on auto-replay on FOX News forever.
But Trump says so many lies with no consequence, because he hates the same people that his base hates. So, he gets away with it. He never had any intention of ending the Ukraine war quickly. But he lied about it anyway. His base doesn't care. They continue to support him, because of soshulizm or Hillary killed someone or something.

In this instance I dont think President Trump, himself, thought he was lying.
I personally believe he really thought he could end the war pretty quickly. Yeah, embellishing regarding having it in end in 24 hours was lie. But I think that he really thought he could end this quickly. Cut off the US aid and force Zelinski to settle, while getting Russia to pull back a little bit. That way he could say he was a great deal maker, and move on. That is why I think he lost his temper in the Oval Office a few month back when Zelenski, even with out US support, was not throwing in the towel. I think that is the narcissist trait that he has, and it works against him.
Unfortunately, I think these 2 countries will continue to battle it out for another year or so.

But even if I agreed with you that he didn't think he was lying - which I don't - he still should pay some sort of political price from his own voters for making such a ridiculous promise. But he won't.

If they sunk low enough, then the congress wouldn't be as afraid of him as they are. They're scared shitless of Trump's base, and therefore they don't do their job. His approvals are baked in at the upper to mid 40's, almost no matter what he does, because the MAGA base doesn't care if he lies....and in fact, the more he lies, the more they like it.
If he paid more of a price for his many hundreds/thousands of lies, Congress would rebuke him more, and might even impeach him, because Republicans in congress mostly hate him in private.

Lake Norman Tiger, sorry to say this, but I think you might be a little naïve, Trump has not put as much thought into Ukraine as you have put into your post.
He doesn’t put any thought or effort into results.
He’s only concerned about making money, staying in power, tweeting, press, conferences and what other people think of him.
He is not concerned about Ukraine, the US economy, immigration and {insert anything here}.

I support him for a few reasons. First is He is not a Democrat. Rand Paul would be my ideal President, but Trump was the best thing running this time.

I don’t support him in everything. I am very opposed to the big beautiful bill.
He knows how to define a man and a woman. He is not woke. He is not trying to push the LGBTQ agenda. He is sealing the border. He is not trying to take my guns. The list goes on and on. The vocal minority that is running The Democrat party has made it a party I could in no way support.

It was a dumb and narcissistic statement for Trump to tell us that he would end this war within 24 hrs.
I don’t think even many of Trump’s supporters actually believed that.
Trump needs to put crippling sanctions on Russia to speed things up, but ultimately it is up to Putin to say enough is enough.
I fear what Putin is going to do to Ukraine in retaliation for the recent brilliant drone attack.

We do have sanctions. I could not find a really simple bullet point slide, etc. on the International Trade Government site. But just glancing at it, looks like banking sanctions. Ie keep Russia from having access to US dollars. This hurts there ability to support international trade. Also, weapons and airplane parts looks to be the other big sanction.
They have likely gotten around the parts problem through reverse engineering. And Bitcoin and the growth of the "digital currency" has likely been there work around regarding the banking sanctions. But that is just my guess. I am far from an expert..

Agree with the sanctions. I dont think it has to be crippling. But just enough to try to add to the cost that Russia has to pay to operate.
Strategy will be similar to what happen in Afghanistan. Make low cost weapons available that can cause high dollar damage and just watch Russia spend their money till they run out. That latest drone strike, if the reports where accurate, had to have a huge rate of return in regards to cost.
The draw back unfortunately to the Ukrainian people is the damage that is being done to their developed country the longer this drags out. Which is unfortunate.

If Russia decided to leave and stop fighting, the war would end. If Ukraine decided to stop fighting, Ukraine would (will) end.
