TNet liberals hate when U.S. states secede; but will fund Ukraine’s secession in perpetuity.
They are a weird bunch.

Tnet Liberals aren't in charge of any policy making, at any level. They are simply on a chat board, so said Liberals opinions mean just as much as yours
As far as I'm concerned any red states that what to get out, well ...bye
I had this discussion a while back with another poster, even to the point of which states lol

Is the Soviet Union still around to secede from?
Ukraine wasn't part of Russia, despite Putin's claims. Ukraine has always been...well, Ukraine. Kyiv was a major trading port in AD 500. Moscow didn't even exist then, and wouldn't until 1147, actually.

divorce evildoers ( i typed, or tried to type " would" and spellchecker gives me evildoers... fayum) only delay it. Whether it be from a part of the former USA or from outside eg, Chiner, mass violence would occur.
Between the Revolution and War Between States there were a fair amount of skirmishes here. We have still enough unity to have been able to keep a lid on things so far, but I suspect (and hope I'm wrong) we are not far from a return to such skirmishes.
There are two major schools of thought as it relates to the advent of significant global governance. One suggests the many nations of the world will give up their sovereignty in increments without break ups within nation stsres. The other suggests a number of nation states first break up (not peacefully), forming a number of new, smaller nation states that, in search of common weal relinquish sovereignty to a supra government. I can't say I am convinced which us the more likely, but the YS is clearly leaning toward the latter as our politics are, generally, pretty clearly recognizable along geographic lines.
I'd heard more than 20 years ago an assertion that would the abortion issue have been just a bit better defined geographically we would have already realized a 2nd war between states. I have come to agree with this and believe I am seeing such geographical definition between left and right. If we don't soon find a common pupise or enemy we may well see a breakup and I doubt it will be entirely peaceful.

Why do so many assume China would invade the 50+ states
Feb 21, 2023, 11:49 AM

that resulted from a national divorce?
Why exactly would they do so? How would they "take control" with millions of people conducting guerilla warfare against them?
I think the idea is so looney. I guess people believe the cartoon version of history and that leads to this world-view.

Even if we all wanted to, the divide is more rural vs. urban and even the most heavily republican or democratic leaning states still have at least 1/3rd of their population in the other camp.
I think it’s an interesting discussion on our level…but a pretty silly thing for legislators to be discussing…it’s just not possible/practical today…we are too intertwined.
Besides…where is MTG gonna move when GA leaves with the blue states? I sure as hell don’t want her here in SC. Speaking of SC…we would be sandwiched between two of those blue states. Would they allow us to drive our horses and buggies across either state for the big annual book burnings in TN or AL?

Left to its own devices, this state would quickly become a little theocracy. After the talent leaves due to increasingly regressive legislation coming out of Columbia, no shot they stay here.

Both are purple enough that neither would vote to secede. At the end of the day, I don’t think you can just ignore 45%+ of your citizenry and hope to govern.

Ha…maybe the pubs have been playing the long game all along!
Again…it is kinda fun to jab about this sort of thing…but it does concern me that there are actually folks (on both sides) who really think this is a viable solution to what they perceive as being insurmountable differences/issues.
What we really ought to be talking about is both parties divorcing themselves from their far left/right factions and not letting these vocal minorities drive the bus off the cliff. The vast majority of us have our differences but can get along just fine.

Texas and Virginia and not miss out on much. Those states don’t really contribute much. Keep the rural Midwest states that really produce. Could also give up Arizona and New Mexico.

So you happily ridicule SC but you received your education here. Is this a confession that you are really not so very bright? I mean. if you are so wonderfully gifted and SC is so amazingly backwards surely you would have had the ability and inclination to receive a more meaningful education elsewhere. Wouldn't you?

Born and raised in SC (at least 5th generation) and I love this state and its people. I also believe I received a top notch engineering education that has served me well in a 30 year career (to date). However, as with any family, there are things I think we can do better. Sometimes I (attempt to) use humor/sarcasm/absurdity to highlight those things…with varying degrees of success. If that offended you, then that is your right.
