Yes the game was bad,,,,,but its worth mentioning that Elko is a dang good coach and deserves a ton of credit. Winning against his defenses have never been easy and always challenged us with a weak Wake roster and even more so at A&M. Last night is the 6th time a Dabo team faced an Elko defense and it was the 2nd highest rushing total..only 2016 Wake game was better. We finished close to avg on yards gained against his defenses. 3 of the games we really only had one good quarter against him and was basically the reason for winning the game (a few good drives but not utter dominance).

Had we converted in the red zone (or inside the 1 yard line!!) we were on schedule to have 27-31 points in total....thats our average against Mike Elko no matter where he has been.

Was it crappy, yes, but this was Carl Franks Duke over there....its a very well coached team with a 1st rd draft pick at QB...not an excuse just a factual statement.

We were 12 pt favorites and a 54 o/u....thats basically a 33-21 score. Would anyone have been satisfied with that? I'd say it would have been 50/50 with the fans. Vegas didnt expect this but knew Duke was better than we did. Lastly, this Duke team did win 9 games last year and the 4 losses came by a combined total of 16 points....3 of those were 2 or 3 pt losses. They were well above average last year too.

Just some food for thought.
