He has committed to name an African American woman to fill senator Feinstein’s senate seat, right?
I completely understand the desire to name a woman given the seat was held by a woman and over half the population is female.
But why is it ok for him to pick a candidate purely because of their race?
And, 39% of the population in California is Hispanic and only 5% is black. If you were interested in picking a candidate based on race (which I still disagree with) why not pick a Hispanic woman instead? Wouldn't that be more representative?

I totally agree with this.
If you are allowed to say: "I'm only considering a black female" for this job, how is that not discrimination against anyone who is not both black and female?
I don't even like the term "reverse discrimination". It's just simple, basic "discrimination". In this case, Newsome is discriminating against all males of every race, and against all white, Latina, and Asian females.
The glaring double standard being applied there absolutely does not help black females in the long term, either, because it builds up toxic resentment that they're getting special treatment, and that always has a cost that's bigger than the short-term benefit. You do not make up for racial and sexual injustices in the past by screwing over other races and sexes in the present because all you're really accomplishing is starting a whole new round of injustices and a whole new fight.

I agree with them on this on. A black woman would be fine, but I don't believe that should be the guaranteed criteria. Interview everyone and get the best person. If that person ends up being a black woman, that's fine. Just don't start with only looking for a black woman to start the process. I think that's what even the MAGA cult thinks as well.

In Newsom's case, it seems that being a black woman is the primary criteria.
The criteria could be a number of things, but if race is one of them then the criteria is discriminatory.
This is a pretty basic idea, for people who believe racial discrimination is wrong.

It's pretty easy to explain.
Newsom is going to use skin color to determine his pool of choices.
Making a decision based on skin color is racially discriminatory.
Newsom's decision to only choose from a pool of one race, is racially discriminatory.
You don't need to know any other criterion to understand this.

Whether or not a lawsuit takes place, is a separate issue from limiting a pool based on race being racial discrimination.
If you believe that limiting a pool of choices based on race is ok, then you believe that racial discrimination is ok. That's not a narrative. That's a simple fact.

Neither of your arguments of criteria for the job or the legal ramifications, have anything to do with the fact that limiting a pool based on race is in fact racial discrimination.
Believing that a black woman is the right person for the job and limiting your pool to black women from the outset are two different things. You obviously are not able to understand this concept.
