I read where the coots paid Sellers $3 mil for him to stay after paying Noland millions to come to their school. How many millions did they pay last year only to beat us by 3 points? I hope they end up like FSU this year. If it wasn’t for NIL, they would not be the team they are today.

Belittling our baseball or basketball programs for using the portal and NIL. It’s just ridiculous to belittle them for a perfectly legal and normal act.
There’s plenty of other things to knock them for.

with the HR.
Better start getting better at player acquisition business...especially HS kids. Ppl who deny the talent gaps at certain positions just aren't facing reality
Thing that stings the most is this is 1000% self-inflicted. NO reason for it.

This is my stance, too. Yes, they’re competitive in the portal, but they’re not one of the insane schools tossing around crazy money. Paying $3 Million for Sellers doesn’t seem absurd to me. He’s their most important player and a darn good one. They also are recruiting well enough. Not top tier recruiting, but certainly well enough combined with their portal usage.
I think what many discount about Beamer’s staff is that, by and large, they hit on their player evaluations in the portal. That’s what keeps them from being like FSU (that and FSU just tossed around obscene money).

Unfortunately, they have recently gotten good enough to be competitive. We are 2-2 over the last 4 years. We just have to recognize how much things have changed with recruiting/roster management and respond accordingly. We also have to take honest looks about how we are developing these players and Dabo has to decide if he needs to tweak the staff to improve in this area.
Dabo is stubborn but he is also smart, successful, and driven. I think being back in the playoffs and being competitive with a quality team like Texas stirred his passion. He sees what is going on and I think he will address it in short order.

I think it’s called reality. I specifically seeing you post that USCjr. has no chance of beating us back in November. Well, we all see how that turned out. That’s 2 of the last 3 for the chickens. They’re our rival; it stands to reason we use them as a measuring stick for the current state of our program. Especially consider we share the state and often recruit some of the same players.

Regardless of how many points they won by is irrelevant. They still won the game. All the millions they spent was worth it. If Clemson would buy a roster and wins, no one on here would complain.

If this player buying doesn’t slow down, before long there will be contracts with performance bonuses for the players. And a Union, and players not going to spring practice or showing up for fall camp because a teammate got a better NIL deal. It coming folks, no matter what school you pull for.

rules in place, leading to more binding contracts between schools and players to make sure some stability remains in the sport. It'd be healthy for almost all aspects of college football.
Without some sort of organization on the players side the rules will continue to be fluid, the wild west nature of the sport that is ramping up will exist into perpetuity.

The coots have to buy their team. They are losing a lot. Most of their good defense is gone after the bowl game. They will not be as decent next year as they were this year. Their scheduling turned out to be a plus for them even though it looked bleak on paper. They beat us because some of our coaching sucked. They beat Texas A&M only because A&M put all they had in the Texas game the week before. They played Kentucky before Kentucky jelled. Oklahoma was just not good and very mediocre. Vandy was luck. Things will not be as fortunate for them next year, no matter who they buy.

that woulda, shoulda, coulda game can be played both ways.
bottomline is the NIL/Portal has changed the game. Dabo's reluctance to accept that and utilize the "new world" to Clemson's advantage has hurt us. Gaps b/w us and other teams that we used to beat the brakes off have closed.
Look no further than our 9-13 record against 8+ win P4/5 teams from 2021-present..............1-7 in only OOC games w/ that criteria.............that's pathetic for a program that should be "ELITE"

They’ll be just as good if not better. Don’t be shocked to see them actually make the playoffs. They’re doing what it takes to be elite and consistent. Dabo well, is happy as long as we win the conference championship, which in 2024 is like winning the tallest midget contest…

On defense. There's no way that defense is anywhere near what it was this year. Now the offense may be a different story, but they did lose their actual offensive coordinator. Either way they better hope they can out score people bc the defense will be ugly.
