How yall feel about Brads response to Indiana Job

I would actually like to point out that I know this hasn’t happened yet….
But don’t you think this is what you should expect when you funnel 100% of money into football?
Like would it really be uncalled for? Indiana gives most to basketball, for those of you who are plain clueless
Judge Keller is so anxious she’s forgotten her own name.
And is preparing her rock to crawl under for eternity given Brad Brownell puts us in the spin cycle like Rick Barnes did.
“I'm not going to talk about potential jobs,” Brownell said. “I have a great job and I'm a hundred percent focused on this team and what we've got ahead of us and try and do everything I can to help us continue to win the next game.”
It’s weird to me

There are just as many poasters like you on here that would criticize Dabo for saying that as there are who will criticize Coach Brownell for answering that way. You really should grow up. See my earlier response to the OP below, which was surprisingly similar to yours. As a Clemson fan, you should give Dabo the same respect.

That would be blatantly stupid of him to say from a personal perspective. You can be sure he will use this leverage to get a raise.

I think it is just the right thing to say at the moment. I think he would listen to Indiana but has to keep in mind how that would go over with the Indiana Fan base
. Remember a lot of feedback on coaches being possibly hired is what response it would get from their fanbase. The Hoosier revolt would be unreal.

There are just way better options from their perspective
Chris Heard, Rick Pitino, John Calipari (maybe), Rick Barnes, etc.

Brownell has done a great job the past 3 years in terms of adapting to NIL and the transfer portal and using that to elevate Clemson basketball and the University should recognize that and reward him accordingly.
If you look at his first 10 years at Clemson, his ACC record was 85 wins and 93 losses with 2 NCAA appearances. Granted that was during a time when the ACC was much stronger than it is today and there were no NIL and transfer portal, i.e. much tougher times. That being said, for whatever reason, Clemson stood by him and didnt fire him when many others with similar results or better results were fired.
Hopefully, he gets paid and hopefully he remembers.

He gave exactly the answer I was expecting and I see nothing wrong with it. Maybe there should be a different answer after the season but for now, the answer he gave is appropriate.

We don't funnel 100% of money into football.
And no, Indiana doesn't "give most" of their funds to basketball.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

Main concern is just about the money Indiana puts in basketball
It’s a basketball school
A legendary one.

Legendary describes their program’s history.
Grammatically, you’re implying that I meant, “Indiana has a legendary program right now.”.
That doesn’t make sense.
You can’t be legendary and then become not legendary.
Indiana is a legendary basketball program.
Nebraska is a legendary football program.
Did I use the word legendary enough?

He answered the question correctly.
1. Stated that he loves Clemson. 2. Stated that he is focused on this season. 3. Refused to let rumors be a distraction.
From a business perspective this is what you do. I have no problem with it nor should anyone else here.

That’s usually how it goes anyways before coaches leave.
They never blatantly say, “Hey guys I’m out!”
Also, you act like I’m the emotional one.
But when he leaves, who’s going to be deleting their TNET account?

Where there's smoke there's fire.
Looks like it's 50/50 on whether he stays or leaves
Everywhere you look, including those who are close to and cover the Indiana program, say the search is down to Brownell and Ben McCollum.
I think McCollum would be the more flashy hire. But he's a coach on the rise who could also one day end up back home at Iowa. This is Brownell's dream job and would stay as long as they'd have him.
Clemson has more to lose if Brownell left. He's finally provided some stability, consistency and a winning culture after 15 years. If he were to leave, there's a high probability of losing players to the portal and losing incoming recruits. With all of the seniors also leaving, the program would be in disarray.
Brownell has more to gain by leaving. Next year may be a rebuilding year at Clemson. Indiana (apparently, because they keep saying) has more resources and a strong desire to become nationally prominent.

What really sucks is how all this noise could potentially siphon off energy and be a major distraction while the program attempts to realistically reach its first final four.
