I dunno about "just ok".
He's got some growing up to do - he makes some goofy decisions and throws some weird balls at times - but those are experience issues, not talent issues.
The arm talent - he's got a no-kidding rifle - and quick release are obvious, and he can put the ball on the money when he spins it. He also keeps his eyes downfield and you can see him working at least a limited progression, and he's got some serious cajones to stand and deliver in the pocket the way he does behind a bad o-line with Bama DL's bearing down on him.
I'm curious to see if he can extend plays with his feet or make something happen with them, but those are the only question marks I'd have on him yet.
If Trevor Lawrence is a "10", I'd give this kid probably an 8.5 or 9 depending on how mobile he is. He looks to me like one of the best, if not the best, QB's they've ever had.
I dunno if he's going to save Muschamp's job, though, since to judge from that oh-so-brief interview before he stormed off to the locker room with steam blowing out his ears, the Champ is still very much a chump and hasn't figured out what the word "grace" means yet.

He lacks mobility. He also tends to float his throws. I think he does have good vision downfield and generally makes good decisions. He's an upgrade from Bentley. But is he an "elite" QB? too early for me to say.
But again, the real takeaway for me is how poor Bama's rushing game has been as well as how little pressure their DLine is getting on a very bad USCjr. Oline.

Is this any different? Just let them put another kid on a pedestal as the savior of the program only to tear him down after reality hits again. It’s been a cycle for the entire history of the program.

When a team is used to the play and extreme inconsistency of Jake Bentley at QB, there are gonna be really excited when a young QB comes in and shows talent and promise even if he makes some mistakes.
