WR Group Production Drop Off Since Coach Scott’s Exit

The WR room had performed below average since Coach Scott left. I really didn’t realize how much his exit set Clemson back in that regard until now.
Let’s hope Coach Grisham can return that group to its former glory, but I digress!
Go Tigers!

The virus lock down hurt Clemson more than other teams located in large municipal areas. Losing our OC and DC in one year didn't help any. And now we are dealing with NIL and the portal. It is difficult to say that Clemson will come out the other side of all this without some damage. I hope not.

So has the WR production dropped off because a change of coaches or philosophy or because of a drop off in talent? Easy answer for me because even non fans can see that we no longer have the speed and NFL talent we were used to.

Jeff Scott left at the end of 2019 and in 2020 the Clemson offense had 500 less yard of passing, but Trevor’s completion % went up. In 2020 the Clemson passing game was 1500 yards less than 2019. I think this shows it’s more than just Jeff Scott leaving.

2020 was the most productive passing offense in Clemson history.***

In 2019 we had 4325 yards in 15 games (288 yds/game). We had 326 completions (22/game)
In 2020 we had 4182 yards in 12 games (349 yds/game). We also had 326 completions (27/game).
2019 was a great offense, but the passing game was significantly better in 2020.
2020 was the most productive passing offense in Clemson history.
Jeff Scott was head coach at USF in 2020.
2021 we saw a dropoff, for obvious reasons not related to Jeff Scott.
The OP's premise is incorrect.
Yet another case of "the sky is falling" but not really.
Go Tigers!

Clemson history the year after Jeff left?
Last year does not represent a trend.

I was about to say. The issue is talent pure and simple.

What a difference a year makes. I felt like the job Grisham did in 2020 with Rodgers and Powell was extraordinary. In 2021, we had two things working against us: injuries and youth/inexperience. Hopefully 2022 will trend upward.

I would agree that there are multiple reasons for the drop off. Imo, it was a lack of chemistry between them and DJU. He didn't look like he had a lot of faith in any of them being where they should be. It was also a lack of leadership/ an attitude of entitlement by a young group.

There was ONE dropoff year, for obvious reasons.

Yet again, we had the best passing offense in Clemson history the 1st year Jeff wasn't here. The 2nd year was the "DJ/injury" year.
Some of you guys are trying entirely too hard.
