I'm probably wrong as usual with things like this, but I don't feel that this is his year unless we win the Natty this year. Without the Natty this year I don't think that Garrett has shown anything special during his time as OC at Clemson, actually his offenses at Clemson has struggled every year with last year being a little more favorable for him. Plus, his job was made a lot easier by Dabo's hiring of Matt Luke, IMO Matt Luke was a lucky get for Dabo bc Luke in most people's thoughts minds wasn't ready to come back into college FB as a coach before Dabo talked to him about coming and coaching the OL at Clemson. Just like he said, and I believe him, if Clemson hadn't been the special place that he thought that it was, he wouldn't have come back into coaching as soon as he did. The opportunity to coach at the one place he believed was a special place came to him totally unexpected, and he felt that it was available right now and that's why he came back to coaching as quick as he did, and IMPO that was a life saver for Garrett Riley actually.

With the Matt Luke hire, our recruitment with everything on that side of the ball started improving from the OL and the receivers. With the remarkable job that Matt done at bowl practice, fall camp and all through the season is the very reason that Cade Klubnik has been able to show off his ability as the 5 star QB that he came to Clemson with. IMO, Cade and Garrett owe a ton of thanks to Matt Luke bc it was his experience with an OL that has made their jobs much easier to do!!!

He better get a top job or stay put in Clemson.

I'm still wishing Venables well at Oklahoma, but it is tough to put a Top 20 D1 team on the field.
Tony Elliott, Jeff Scott and Chad Morris have also learned how difficult it is to be a HC.
Tommy Bowden did everything right except on gameday. It is a tough job to be successful.

Working with Dabo at Clemson is a great coaching job, so you really better be moving on to a great opportunity to succeed.
Garrett has seen what happens to great coaches in a tough situation. His brother is struggling at USC.

Yeah, we probably won't have him anymore after this upcoming season.***

We knew with his hire that it would likely be a 3-5 year gig.

Coach Riley's 3-year term ends after this season, he wants to be a head coach explicitly, & this year's Clemson team should have everyone taking notice outright for many reasons.

Gonna miss him when he's gone, but gotta enjoy him this year for sure.
