I don't understand all the noon hate.
There has to be a big time matchup on ESPN at noon to compete with FOX's big noon kickoff. Noon is one of the best time's to play as it gets plenty of eyes on the game to kick off rivalry Saturday.

That's a good point. Crowd hasn't had enough time to get lubed up and rowdy.
Though I would think it would also affect the opposing team having to get up early to prep for the game.

I'm a student, night games are more rowdy. Don't have to wake up at 8 am to start drinking, can go downtown before the game when we have a late game. More fun and intimidating atmosphere for the opposition. Fireworks and light show.

It is terrible for the fans who attend the game in person. First, it significantly impacts tailgating. You have to get there extremely early to make it worth it, and if we lose, it diminishes the incentive to tailgate for the afternoon. Second, and related, it truncates the time that everyone can get to the stadium which makes the traffic heinous.

Because the traffic is a pain in the you know what with everyone trying to get there early vs a later kick when it trickles in much of the day. Many people in the Big 12 and B1G have always B&M'd about the early Big Noon kicks.
Heard the joke? It's noon. Must be halftime in the B1G or Big 12.

For me, I hate waking up early and the anticipation is awesome for a night game. That being said, I also can’t get to sleep until 2am after a night game because of the adrenaline and it wrecks your Sunday too. 3:30-4 pm games are the best, but we don’t get them very often.

the rear to get to the game on time. I have a clemson house near the stadium, take a golf cart to the game, and i still have to hustle on saturday am to get there on time. Now, if we win the nooner, i feel so good the rest of the day, get to watch other college football, and continue some reasonable day drinking and dancing to my music with the co-eds. But if we lose, it absolutely ruins the entire rest of the day and night. And all everbody does in byatch all day and nite.

1. I don't hate noon. I'm not going to physically go to the game, so I can tune in whenever. I prefer a night game, but I understand we're not good/relevant enough to justify primetime.
2. Most of the hate for noon games comes from fans going to the games. It's extremely awkward timing and destroys your whole day. You have to get up early, go up there, and you're not getting home until night. It cuts tailgating short as well.
3. We're not put on at noon to compete with Fox. Get real. Do you really think on the national scale, Clemson-South Carolina competes with Ohio State-Michigan? I'm sort of an expert on television broadcasting because of my past work and broke it down in another thread. But we were put at noon on ESPN because we weren't as popular as the other Disney games they put later. Fox is at noon because that was the exchange of their getting to choose any game they wanted in the Big Ten. Fox noon will be the second most watched game that week. Our game will be like 8th or 9th.

Noon games are already bad in terms of traffic because you have more people bunched up on when they are trying to arrive. For this game you also have a considerably larger # of visiting fans and more people than usual just coming to tailgate/party.
The atmosphere is never as good either.

Interesting responses. I guess everyone has their own preferences. I like rolling into town the night before, getting to the stadium early and then having daylight after the game to enjoy around town.
I could understand the frustration for people who setup to tailgate before and after. Never been much of a tailgater.

I like 11 AM games the best, or noon Eastern time. Get it done. I don't drink and haven't since 2010 when it was a problem for me.
If the game is great and you win, plenty of time to celebrate afterwards. If the game ends badly, plenty of time to cool off. If it's a late night game, I can't sleep if it ends well or badly. Then, I'm tired on Sunday which should be one of the best days of the week.
All of my school's fans whine like school girls about an 11 AM game. I never understood going drunk to the game as you won't remember that much as you would if sober.

Which is louder and a bigger distraction for visiting teams? Tiger fans full of coffee and only awake for about 3 or 4 hours or Tiger fans who have been drinking whiskey for 8 hours, fired up and talking trash?

This should be a night game. Both teams ranked and nationally relevant right now. This sucks.
