Because Bob knows Baseball,Pitched and was a co-captain during his time at Clemson in the mid 70's and has been calling the games since the early years of Jim Phillips

Mahoney will actually explain the game as it goes. He has always been a great announcer for just that reason.

We all like what we like but I could do without Qualk screaming like every play is the biggest play ever. And let the broadcast breathe a bit. You don't have to talk every second.

I would argue that on a radio broadcast, you do need to be speaking every second. He’s alright. He just reminds me of a fan that was offered free admission if he would do color commentary.

Again, we like what we like. Qualk doesn't do it for me. But I don't turn on games to see/hear announcers turn the games into their own promotional tool.
