Without an overarching narrative being created?
Notre Dame beat Indiana. And Penn State beat SMU. That's it. That's the post. Nothing needs to fundamentally change and the committee got it right since these were the two higher rates seeds.
If Texas beats Clemson it will further validate the committee, not discredit it.

We dealt with the same exact thing in the 4-team playoff. And often times in the national title game itself (Clemson vs Bama, Georgia vs TCU).
I don't remember anybody discussing whether those teams should have gotten in.

We got to witness so many blowouts during the BCS era and the 4-team playoff era.
It’s dumb that so many people think a 12-team playoff should be any different.

It doesn't matter if we had a 124 team playoff. There's still gonna be beeching from someone. I personally don't think letting anybody with 3+ losses compete for a title is a good thing for the sport. I don't care if you had to play the '89 Bears 12 times. 12 teams is too many for the playoffs.

Are 12 teams really too many when compared to virtually every other sport? 4 made it more special, but made every other bowl game worthless

12 teams is nowhere close to too many, and there is nothing wrong with a 3 loss team being in the playoffs. College football's setup for the last 100+ years is asinine.

Totally agree… but eSECpn has money tied up in the sec so they push those narratives.
Cfb has turned into what the stock market is… purely driven narratives to create value or negative sentiment.

Yeah we shouldn’t even have a committee that has a decision process if they’re just “supposed” to put the best brands in the playoff.
Indiana deserved it, and SMU did too.
Deserving overrides perceived competitiveness.
Unless you’re FSU and you’re QB breaks his leg.

But maybe there is something to just having the top 4 play each other every year in the playoff. Some so called pundits of this sport have said all along that playing in this format would still statistically put the best teams in the final 4. This certainly will be a good litmus test to see if they were right or wrong. Go Tigers !!!
