I was concerned the Icons would look elsewhere for a HC. Glad they stayed in house. Good hire***

article quote "...had a successful basketball career at the University of South Carolina." Not words one often hears regardless of sport.

That's wrong. He played for CLemson in 1989-90 before injuries and NCAA B.S. ended his playing career.

joining the team... here is the quote from the article: "As a star basketball player, Falohun had a successful basketball career at the University of South Carolina."
...just an honest misinterpretation for you...

He's a real good guy as well...

Not sure why this is taking so long?
Here I go. And I quote
" I for 1 think if things continue down the same path for our Baseball team, Wayne would be a good hire"

Wayne dated Jessica Bar while at Clemson who was an all-American and ACC Player of the Year on our women's team. Jessica was a friend of mine from high school so I got the chance to chat with Wayne a few times. Really nice guy. Good player. Unfortunately, the issues with the NCAA were not just BS. However, and this where Ken Hatfield doesn't get enough credit, the report from the NCAA indicated that Clemson was given less than the minimum sanctions required because the progress that had been made in the football program indicated an institutional move toward compliance (or some language similar to that.) I know the Hatfield error wasn't the grandest time in Clemson football history, but I do wonder what might have happened if we hadn't parted ways with Ford.

Since there seem to be youngsters with questions about Wayne, I'll provide a few details. Since I am getting old, some details may be fuzzy!! Wayne played some his freshman year. We were pretty good that year so he didn't play much but was supposed to play big minutes the next year. However, after the season, questions came into play about his high school grades. What came out at the time was there was a question about the validity of one of his 9th grade classes. The NCAA started investigating so Ellis held him out at the start of the next season awaiting their decision. They drug it out so long he missed the whole season. It still was not resolved the next year so Ellis said screw it, I am going to go ahead and play him even though we still don't have a verdict. By this time Wayne had been at Clemson for almost 3 years and had something like a 2.7 GPA so it was pretty comical that they were worried about one 9th grade class. Because he had not played in almost 2 years, his weight had ballooned and he ended up blowing out his knee in one of the first few games he played. I was glad to hear that he played professionally becasue the NCAA really screwed up his college career.
