What's your opinion of Riley as an OC.

Sep 2, 2024, 1:17 PM

I am not feeling good about him. I never liked the hire. I didn't like his offense at tcu. He has scored a combined ten points in his last two games vs Georgia. What do you think..

Until we see results he will be considered a bad hire imo. But at a the same time is it really him calling everything?? Who knows at this point

He's been a complete dud so far. Having Tyler Grisham as a WR coach probably doesn't help though.

20 months ago, it was considered a consensus home run hire by the football world. I’m not ready to call it a bust, but I did expect to see a major jump in our offensive production.

From everything I've seen so far, unless there is drastic change over the next 11 games, I would fire him at seasons end

He hasn't performed against the value he was brought in for. I don't care the excuse of why .we invested money in him and at this point that investment has not returned any profit at all. Could change but the current look is not good.

Not long ago he was the hottest name for a HC positon, we saved some one from making a bad mistake.
He has underwhelmed and under performed. Granted his QB"S are bad, but we ought to be able to get
something out of the passing game.

BLUF: Dude sucks!

To be honest, I was excited at first about the hire. Then, I was concerned because I remembered that his "offense" was held to 7 by UGA in that NCG. I thought to myself why would we turn to this guy who proved on the BIGGEST stage, against a good opponent, he could not get anything done........
With a 5th yr SR QB.

There were so many mistakes at the beginning of last year that made me think it wasn't him. Now, there is zero doubt.

Some think Dabo is the one enforcing/calling the plays....ANYONE/OC/DC worth their "salt" would not accept that and walk away. I mean, he is staying, so it's obviously Riley.....otherwise, he would try to save his "Good name" and leave saying he was hamstrung and could not call like he wanted/needed to.

Go Tigers!!!

I dunno..... He is getting paid quite well to run "Clemson's offense".

I dont know what it looks like because hes been forced to run the Clemson

Offense, whatever that is. Which puts us at number 124 in total offense between FIU and Colorado State.

I thought it was a great hire at the time because we needed new blood. That looks like an obvious colossal bust now.

I thought he was a great hire and I applauded Dabo for stepping outside of the program with the hire.
So far, Riley has been very underwhelming and looks the part on the sideline. Nothing there and very very vanilla.
But, what else is going on behind the scenes? Grisham sure doesn’t help him out with WRs, Cade is a definite bust as QB. That is a definite. RBs…we have Mafah, but that’s it. And the opposing teams know it. The Oline was hot garbage last year. At least that seems somewhat better. And I firmly believe Dabo has some say so in the play calling. Whether it’s a control thing or he’s trying to dumb it down for Cade, he’s got a part in it. Riley looks like he’s going through the motions on the sidelines.

There are so many factors and problems on this offense it’s extremely concerning. Something tells me that you could bring in any other top coordinator in the country and Clemson would still have these issues because of who’s running the show.

Until he gets our offense going he gets a F. Why the #### do we have Mafah taking kick offs. Someone please make it make sense

Reminds me of Rob Spence. That isn’t a compliment. However, I wonder if his hands are tied due to the talent on the field. He makes no in game adjustments, but again, he might not be able to.

Riley would be just fine if dabo would let him run his own offense. Riley got TCU to the title game and they didn’t have half the talent we do.

I didn't like his offense at tcu either though.
