Were Notre Dame QB needs more than Clemson's?

We will need to be more active in the transfer portal if this keeps up. Perhaps look at former recruits and keep open communication even with previous commitments for any role.
Example: Keon Sabb (safety) was a one-time Clemson commit who flipped to Michigan. Then transferred to Alabama this past off-season without Clemson attempting to re-recruit him back to campus.

Top portal players that can compete with the type of talent that Clemson brings in, losing a 4 star QB is critical when you think about the type of WR talent that we're just starting to get back since Jeff Scott left. Top portal QB's aren't cheap in case anyone doesn't know that.
I don't know if he would do it knowing Dabo, but, if you have plans of getting your FB program back to the top of college FB he has a few decisions that he has to make. One is that he himself will have to find some of his friends in high places to contribute to the NIL bank even if he would have to share some of his own funds in those donations to keep his name off the paperwork and I promise that there are very high paid coaches out there that's already doing things like that to ensure that their program has the cash needed to compete so that they don't find their program crawling around at the bottom of the pile on 1st floor where the programs that no longer matter anymore.
Without the NIL bank having plenty of money to compete with programs with their NIL bank being loaded with money, and without that money the Clemson FB program will end up at the bottom of the pile with other program that no longer matter anymore bc once our FB program drops to that level it would be pretty near impossible to recover and climb out of the pile with the other no longer matter anymore programs, but most of those that are at the bottom of that pile, they really never cared that much for spending all the money that it takes just to have the facilities to support a winning FB program like we have at Clemson, but now our FB program has found its self standing in front of the green monster named excessive amount of cash with a sword ready to chop Clemson's FB program legs out from under it bc they don't have a green monster to compete with the other green fat cat monsters...
There are two choices that Dabo has to make to remain competitive, one find more NIL donors that would like to invest in our FB program, or until a rule is made to even out the cash flow for all schools, or find a way that he can invest in his own FB program in a way that it could never come back on him, and this is what the courts and the NCAA has forced on the schools that aren't located in a huge market area to solicit funding from big companies to donate to our NIL bank/FB program. The lack of big money donation for a small school and small area like Clemson, our NIL bank that could allow Clemson to compete for the best players will get much worse before rules are put in place to make it so that every school can compete for best talent with the new pay for players act that has been put on every school that sponsors athletic programs. Dabo and Clemson didn't create this problem, the NCAA forced student athletes to demand their cut, and the NCAA refused their demands until a few student athletes were smart enough to sue them, and that was what made the roof cave in on top of all college sports. Just another major NCAA screw up!!!

Sabb had his hand out from jump and obviously still does. He incinerated that bridge. Jihad Campbell, Everette, and Sabb all were being steered by IMG handlers. They are the reason we don't even recruit IMG anymore.

I don't understand why so many fans refuse to believe what Dabo and everybody else has said about dealing with the portal. If a school don't have a huge NIL bank sitting there running over with money, it's a complete waste of time to bring a portal guy into your program that don't have the talent to beat out the starter or the next man up at the position needing depth, they will be right back in the portal in a few months. The talent in the portal that can compete with the starters and the next man up, they cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to get them to come and compete at a very high level. The ball was dropped on the schools athletic programs the very second that STUDENT athletes were allowed to demand huge bucks from a school that needed his services. It's not as easy to work the NIL system than it is the NFL free agent market, the NFL free agency is much easier IMO!!!

If I recall, it sounded like there was an agreement between him and Clemson not to take a QB last year, and we didn’t.
Then this slap in the face. This isn’t in our coaches, this is on a young man that they believed in, that decided to go for the money. I want our coaches to honor their commitment even if players don’t.
I’m disappointed, but I believe we’ll be the better for it. I want players with honor who keep their word. Good riddance.

To a lot of them now we are just a safe landing spot that can be easily leveraged for $omething better.

There is no better desire than a big pile of cash, being a good sports program isn't all that attractive anymore, it's the money that attracts those HS college beginner athletes!!! And I understand why Dabo just want jump in and grab an athlete out of the portal when chances are they're not as good as our 3d string guys, and they want big bucks, and it takes even bigger bucks to get the ones that are high level talent!!!

On the other hand it's possible Dabo learned that for some reason he didn't belong here and invited him to de-commit, allowed him the integrity of finding another landing place and handling his future as he sees fit.

If Klubnik keeps playing the way he is and Garrett Riley's offense keeps working, then there should be plenty of QB's wanting to come to Clemson to play. Not worried.

Sadly the kid will start working out at ND next semester and the Irish will announce another one year portal QB on top of him. On and on it goes, year after year.

I never really understood why we only focused on him in the first place. He doesn't do anything exceptionally well. I never really saw him trying to recruit for Clemson. I'm sure the coaches will bring someone in. I don't see this as a huge loss. It's going to take more kids decommitting, but this will eventually make Dabo offer less kids as it seems the last 3 decommitments were using their offer here as leverage for more money.

“I have chosen to withdraw my commitment from Clemson”. He doesn’t know what a commitment is. Good luck to ND if he turns into a decent QB.

He doesn't know the definition of commitment. He will ride the pine for much of college career because ND will keep bringing in experienced QB through the transfer portal. Hit the rode Jack.

Hebert should ask Steve Angeli, Drew Pyne, and Tyler Buchner Freeman's record of developing HS QBs. Hope whatever he got is worth it because he will never play meaningful snaps there. See him in 2-3 years suiting up for BC, UMASS, or UCONN

Technically this is a business decision for these young men and they’ll go where they think they have the best ability to care for their future and their families. Maybe he was offered a ton of $$$ and wants to change his families situation and build them a nice house; etc? Who knows? We will be just fine.
