Oh well, nature of the beast....I was hoping we'd still get Staley too, but I'd rather have to many to choose from than none at all.

I've heard 2 was the number all along, unless the coaches know about some further attrition in current kids. That being said, I'd assume they could massage numbers if there was another stud out there that said yes. If Staley is being told to look elsewhere, I feel like that means the staff is higher on Wesco and Moore than Staley so they are wishing him well. OR...maybe we are leaning for 3 and have a silent from another guy and Staley lost out by timing? I'm sure there are people with more inside info than me who is simply trying to read the tea leaves.

hopefully they pan out on the field, not concerned about not having enough room for a 3star WR from SC.
If by some chance 5star Matthews wanted to come I imagine we'd "find a spot"

considering our WR room I'd take all the talent we can get, but if there's an either/or situation I'm good with the 2 we got.

As I mentioned in the other thread. I’d bet money we have a third by signing day. Whether that be Matthews as an “athlete” or we have a transfer and still end up with a Taylor or Staley

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if anything changes between now and June 39th. I have that date circled on my calendar to remind me!

I like his speed. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with what we got. The WR position has been a struggle so I thought maybe we’d take more. I really hope we get Matthews!!

I would assume either Staley was told there's no more room or he doesn't compete with the other commits. Either way I would think Matthews or Coleman would be a take over Staley if we were going after 3. But Staley would be in slot and I'm assuming Matthews and Coleman would be on the outside so...

After reading that article and putting my opinion on another similar thread I reached out to a buddy for clarification. Staley and Taylor tried to commit but we leveraged them to get the better prospects to commit, so I think Matthews is the only other possible player we could sign because he would be an “athlete.” But we are done at WR.

I know many are non scholarship players but we have 21 (I think) receivers listed on the roster for this year. Dabo and Riley know what we need and have 2 good looking kids committed so you can't hurt other positions by having too many receivers.

Well, I've previously read posts that indicated we were taking more than 2 WRs. Tyler Grisham also was quoted (after the 2 WRs committed) as saying we're not done yet at WR. Staley may be right that there's not room for him at Clemson after the 2 WRs recently committed. Reading between the lines, I'd say we already have another WR locked in--he just hasn't announced yet. Or, we have an unannounced commitment from an "athlete" who will eventually fill a WR role. Thus, Clemson just informed Staley to look at his options elsewhere. Just my opinion in interpreting the info that is currently available.
