That's the main difference, so we better hope so. Personnel are otherwise about the same.
Texas gashed us terribly at our last showing, granted they have an excellent OL and RB. Still, it wasn't competitive. Could've been in that game even closer if we just stop one of those long runs.

country year before last. Wes knows defense and coach Venables would agree. He wanted Wes bad. I think Wes was his brain and eyes in the booth and was HIGHLY involved in what Coach V was calling.
Dabo gave him a chance, because he deserved and it obviously Dabo is a strong leader who would like to promote from within. It’s the culture. Worked out pretty well with Tony Elliot for sure. Grisham is knocking it out of the park, and the players love CJ and they are running hard for him. Competing against UGA for RBs right now is very difficult. Let’s win big and see what happens. Davidson IS an elite recruit, EZ was highly rated, and there is talent here.
Wes didn’t work out. Intensity hit a wall in 2024, and yes, that’s something Wes is going to have to learn. It was a commendable effort by Dabo doing what he does and giving a loyal, seemingly ready guy a shot. That’s admirable.
So clowns like Judge Keller® should stop being jagoffs and let it lie.
I keep thinking trolling was banned here? Maybe it’s the shameless weasel approach Judge trolls with?
Go Tigers!

Safties and linebackers will play down hill because of better coaching. Linebackers were always a step slow and out of position. Just hope the issue was coaching and not talent.

Hopefully Alexander can make a huge splash. And you're right, our front 7 should be as advertised as most predicted. My biggest concern is safety. I really thought we could have added one through the portal but... Hopefully with a new coach, it was coaching.

We will be attacking and disrupting the timing of their run blocking due to our sheer talent on the defensive line/linebackers. Should have the #1 defense in America this season.

This was what I felt was one of the biggest problems. Hopefully Heldt will help with this. Still seems like there isn’t much experienced quality depth at DE

Allen, Woods, Parker.
Two years ago FSU went 13-0. Jordan Travis got a lot of credit, deservedly so. But, the main reason for the 13-0 season was Jared Verse and Braden Fiske played next to each other on the DL. It was their first year playing together and it took a while for them to gel. But, by the end of the season they were wreaking havoc in the backfield. No way would FSU have been undefeated even before Travis got hurt. But, there is absolutely no way FSU would have beaten Florida or Louisville without those two guys living in the backfield the entire game.
Wodds is better than Fiske. Parker is equal in talent to Verse. And, the other 9 guys on Clemson D are definitely above the talent levle of the 9 at FSU.
I suspect Allen is the huge difference maker. Verse and Fiske were operating with a mediocre, at best, coaching staff and got by on their talent and effort. The defensive staff at Clemson is FAR, FAR superior to what FSU had. The only quality coach FSU had on defense was the DL coach.

Coach Allen will settle for nothing less. Just a matter of how long it will take to grab. He did well in one year with PSU. Those boys played hard for sure. My friend and PSU grad kindly put it - “he’s a maniac on the practice field”.. Coach V was a “maniac” and our guys worked their tails off.
Hopefully it shows up right out of the gate. We got the tools, now let’s make it work! Go Tigers!

Well we didn’t have Amare Adams last year. So he may help with the first line of defense. After all Dabo did compare him to Bryan Bresee and Dexter Lawrence.

I believe it’s been documented or atleast observed by local media a dysfunction of leadership on the defense. One example was observing Nick Eason gathering up the bulk of the defensive starters during a few games and chewing them out. Not exactly an endorsement of Goodwin’s coaching leadership. I read comments about assistants losing trust in Goodwin’s decision making (Brown standing on the sideline during the 2nd half of the SC game is one example). If assistants start questioning, that no doubt finds its way to the players as they are struggling over several games in November.
The above speaks to a snow ball gaining downhill momentum along with injuries adding salt to the wound. Heading into ‘25 season, I just don’t envision Coach Allen allowing a leadership vacuum to be present that triggers a bunch of other factors to become part of the problem.
