The Oline and the play calling are a concern. They have been for a while, since the LSU game.
How many times did DJ get sacked? He looked scared. If you’re an elite team, then you have to beat other elite teams. We haven’t done that in a while…

We weren’t last year and probably not the year before either.
Don’t get me wrong, we were (and probably still are) very good. Winning the ACC and making the playoffs is a huge accomplishment and we shouldn’t minimize that. But we weren’t nearly on LSU’s level in 2019, or nearly on Ohio State’s or Alabama’s level last year.
It’s obviously still early, but I will be surprised if we are on the same level as a team like Alabama this year.

If you don’t think a team that was national runner up and then top 4 the following year is elite, then I can’t imagine what you would think about Clemsons basketball program

Your knee jerk reaction to criticize basketball to make yourself feel better is laughable and pathetic, not to mention typical of our fan base.
If the best team is the standard for elite, and we lost to them by several scores, we probably aren’t also elite. If the best team is elite, and we lost to a team by several scores who lost to that team by several scores, we probably aren’t elite.
If you want to define elite differently then that’s your right, but if the goal is to win the national championship then we haven’t really been close the last two years and probably aren’t close this year either.

Disagree with you about LSU. It was a home game for them and the refs screwed us on 3 or 4 key bad calls. Ohio state was rested and able to scheme for us most the year. They weren't on the same level with Bama after playing us.

We weren’t close to Ohio State last year, and they weren’t close to Alabama. How does that make us elite?
There can be more than one elite team in a given year, but in my opinion those teams are fairly evenly matched (e.g., Clemson and Alabama in 2015 and 2016).
If you are automatically considering the four playoff teams as elite, that’s fine. It’s certainly a notable achievement. I just personally don’t think elite teams get blown out.

I agree. Y’all have an amazing football team. It was men vs. boys for both defensive units tonight. I think both of our offenses will heat up throughout the season with softer competition coming. I think the two best defenses in the country were on the field tonight. Good luck the rest of the way Tigers!

Defense is elite. The offense is bad, the o-line is atrocious. It amazes me the inability to recruit and develop offense lineman, even after winning 2 national championships. Elite teams don't give up 7 sacks and 2 yards rushing. There will be some serious soul searching after this loss. It's as embarrassing a performance by the offense I've ever seen. Changes will have to be made, there's simply no sugarcoating this performance..
