I think so. Afterall, Neff said we expect to play for championships. Welp, we're playing for one. Can we hang a banner up for making the NIT sweet 16?

They didn't lose by 18 to a 10-21 Loyola Chicago, or to an 11-21 South Carolina, or by 10 to a 4-28 Louisville. Plus the last game we played was a blow out to UVA. It's really not unlike football. If we come out and lose to Fla Atlantic on Sep 16th, but beat a bunch of crap ACC teams are we all gonna sit around and complain because we didn't make the CFP?
Clemson and NCST are both 23-10. Their 3 worst losses were to us, out 3 were to teams that wouldn't even have one their respective HS 1-A state tournament.

But they did lose to a team that even lost to those poor examples. I get why we aren't there. It's our own fault for losing those games. Let that be a lesson to Brad that we better have an "A" game every weak, and especially for the games we should stomp a weak team, and all those mentioned were very weak.

Yea it sucks to not make the big dance but there are a lot of good teams in the nit. Some teams much better then teams in the big tournament.

Don't accept an invitation to what is essentially a consolation tournament for losers. If Clemson wants to be an exceptional program, it needs to stop accepting the rewards for being a mediocre program.

The fact we accepted this tournament invite tells me all we need to know. Brad will be kept and possibly given an extension. Also shows Clemson doesn’t plan to be better at basketball. The acceptance of mediocrity baffles me.

you go to this tournament because you want some extra competition in the spring, on your own court, and then the possibility of a couple of games in a good neutral floor setting. also, if clemson poops the bed against wichita st., you then have all the extra motivation you need to fire brownell. well, that's my reading at least.

Or, if you really think it's a waste, try this: Pull your seniors and/or those not coming back and only play underclassmen in the tournament and use it as games for experience. Kinda like a spring football game that, of course, has only those players coming back in the fall.

upper echelon even though we've never been to that mountain? Just play and have fun. might as well win the whole thing. BTW we' haven't qualified for the NIT in years.... so this is a step up in my opinion.

The NIT used to be the tournament. I would rather go to the finals of the NIT than lose in the first 2 rounds of the NCAA. That said, the NCAA's made a horrible decision. Brownell has been a great coach this year. Let's see him step up and bring this team together to do well in the NIT. And I still think that Clemson should not compound a horrible decision by making an even worse one and fire Brownell. Bring us together, coach, and bring back a trophy from NY.
