The way Southern Cal pulled out all the stops to get Korey Foreman. There was no way they could let another kid from their backyard right there in Southern California go to Clemson. Because he was down to Clemson versus USC. And I think the coaches were shocked when he didn’t pick Clemson. Because all indications were he was going to pick us.

But when you watch his commitment video he didn’t really talk about Southern Cal, the coaching staff, none of the things you normally hear a player talk about. He picked USC because they filled his head with dollar signs and saying this is LA, this is Hollywood, you’re gonna be a superstar and make millions of dollars with NIL. It was really weird and delusional.

He really did make a choice based on money. Because why else would the number one player in the country pick USC when the only reason that coaching staff still had a job was because of Covid. And if they don’t do something big this year they are gone.

That coaching staff knew they needed to do something big they needed to create some momentum they need to create some buzz going into this season because they know their jobs are on the line and they just did whatever it took to convince Corey Foreman to stay there in LA.

But scheme was only part of the equation for Foreman, who made it clear throughout the recruiting process that the potential to build his brand would be a deciding factor wherever he landed. In December, USC put together a presentation over Zoom on name, image and likeness to help illustrate the value of its in-house creative lab and the opportunities that would be available to Foreman at USC.

The presentation made an impression on Foreman, who called it “insane.”

“It was like I’m the King of Hollywood,” Foreman said. “It’s everything that people talk about wanting to have. I couldn’t be the only one that was drooling when they talked about the numbers.”
