The CFB analyst provides reasonable conclusion, but it assumes Clemson will take advantage of the portal. Coach Swinney is a family guy, promoting from within both in the coaching ranks and on the field. If he modernizes, Clemson can certainly provide an attractive package for players looking for a place to play. Wide receivers would be a blessing.

In the end, I think how far Clemson can rise from its rather modest current circumstance, where we are more an ACC power than a national power (Just ask Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Tennessee, the latter playing in the Sugar Bowl with many stars apparently not participating), to be once more among the national elites. We are a long way from it presently.

Emphasizing where we used to be, as coach Swinney has done repeatedly, does nothing for a fan base that, fairly or not, expects more.

I don't think he is saying that we will use the portal. I believe that he is saying that the portal has made it so that most of the teams at the top are not as talented, therefore our loss of talent might not hurt us as much. This being a product of top teams not being able to stockpile talent due to the portal.

Not so much an analyst as a Big 10 homer

I can’t call his hand on anything that he said. He’s spot on.
Lots of work to do in Tiger football in the next eight months.
The talent is there. The coaching is there . The support and environmental is in place.
The only thing remaining is putting this all together. A number of guys need to up their game.
Leadership MUST be found or developed. Clemson fans are pulling for the Tigers. Many others are not!

A mass of talent to work with do there is no excuse for the Tigers. They just need to get their act together and REFUSE to lose. That’s coaching .

Sorry. But coaching is not there. Streeter is terrible. Goodwin makes a lucky call every now and then.

Cade threw 50 times runs 20 times out of 102 plays that’s stupid. STREETER go couch somewhere else like little league.

Totally agree with You. Even after the game was over, Cade was still flushed, red faced and beaten to a pulp. I noticed in the post game presser, as Dabo threw him under the bus, Cade became even more flushed and I don't blame him one bit. To listen to a complete year of the QB being above reproach and then being called out by your coach after your first game, had to be disheartening for the kid. He gave all he had for 70+ plays and deserved better. His predecessor would have received better!

Agree with Logans heroes... coaching is definitely not there and is (imo) the source of all that ails us...

Guys up their game when they been properly evaluated and coached up from that assessment, and it is that simple with a high rated coaching staff, but it seems that Dabo scraped the bottom of the bargain basement to put this coaching staff together. And here is why I say that he scraped the bottom of the bargain basement >>>>Here is TE's and BV's salary in 2020, and below that, you will see what Streeter's and Goodwin's salary is, that proves they are both Bargain basement hires!!!

If you had showed me the stats before the game...

I would have said that there was no way we lost.

We had 109 more total yards
We punted 3 times to Tenn's 8
We ran 35 more plays than Tenn.
Time of possession, we had the ball 60%.
3rd down efficiency Clemson 7/19, Tenn. 3/13

Yes, we lost the turnover battle 2 vs. Tenn. 0

We missed some field goals and couldn't punch the ball into the end zone enough.

My concerns for next season are filling some big shoes on defense.

Why does this site keep posting these types of articles? Klatt got a concussion on his last beat down in the Big 12 championship game against Texas. They got beat 70-3 and Klatt got terrorized and never got over it. I could give two sh"ts what this guy or Finebaum think about college football.

It's just click bait and I don't respect it.

I know his comments will rile up some on this board, but it's basically the same thing (if not more measured and optimstic) than what most are saying on here. Some people get mad at any analyst who doesn't say "Clemson is the bestest program in all the history of programs!".

We got issues and we aren't as good as we were. Anyone who doesn't see that isn't paying attention or isn't being honest with themselves. I hope like all of us that it gets fixed, but that's the way it is right now.
