The doubting Thomas's on this site that think athletes are not students should be excited about this news. Clemson is a great academic institution and our coaches recruit young men and women that understand they are students and those students perform in both the classroom and in their respective sport. Congrats to our young men and women.

That is phenomenal. That shows a true commitment by the coaches to make sure their players are working in the classroom as well as on the field.

This is interesting…. How did our boys get a lower overall GPA than the coots who came in at 3.30? I know why! You don’t have to have a brain to go there!!! 😂💀🤣

My ex wife got her undergraduate degree from down in Columbia and she would always get mad when I would ask for the address so that I could get my correspondence degree as well. Joking aside, it's great if their football team came in with a 3.3 GPA. I would say that they could probably in part thank Dabo for it.

When Dabo does something that I disagree with, I don't give him a pass because of 2 National Championships (though that doesn't hurt either). I do think there are a few other coaches that could have had similar success on the field. However, I don't think that they could do it with similar results in the classroom. He gets a pass from me because of the culture and emphasis on academics that he built that spread from the football team to every athletic team at Clemson. I don't think anyone could have fostered the change in the classroom that he has. (I understand that he doesn't need a pass from me and I am not saying that I was right and he was wrong in any past situation, but he does do things that I disagree with from time to time) It also likely spread all the way to Cootlumbia. Beamer and company would have a tough time recruiting if they were producing significantly lower GPA's.
