I have to agree with that statement. For 1 I will Coach had brought Cagle in earlier to pitch before it hit out of hand.

Tigers had many chances. Too many left on base and at the end NCSU tried hard to give the game away with error after error. This is a great team! The enthusiasm and joy will return, along with the wins!

This was a head scratcher type of game for sure losing to this N.C.State team who was 15-28 overall and 5-12 in the ACC coming into todays game...with only 8 games remaining in the regular season the Tigers need to get that mojo back again that they had when they were 37-1 prior to the FSU series

Not going to be a popular post. But our softball team may not be as good as we and the media narrative portrays it. Now that the season is winding down, some serious trends are showing. Even at 40-5, this is an unproven team. Our best win is a mid week win over uga. Yes, scar is a good team but they're 8th in the sec standing.
We're not as good a hitting team as we were last year. We started out the gate like a rocket, built up some gaudy stats. We played some good teams in big 10, but not as good of teams that we thought.
We've won a lot of games on pure pitching since league play began in March. In league play, we've played only one top 5 (acc) team. The rest have been the bottom feeders of the acc.
Outside of fla st exposing us, we swept a middle of the acc pack team uva at home beating them 7-1 over the entire series (uva is 8th in acc). Yes, we only scored 7 runs in 3 games. Less one run ruled game against Syracuse, in which they gifted us some walks and errors, they held our hitting.
I went back and reviewed the box scores to confirm what I thought was correct. Even with a healthy team, we have struggled mightily.
Not sure how much we'll learn until the acc tournament. We play Pitt which is next to last in the acc basement. Should beat them handily. Then our last series against va tech before acc tournament. Va tech is 5th currently. So, we have yet to win a series against an acc team that is above. 500.
This is not meant to be a negative post. It was very sobering to go back and review the season to date. Until I did, I didn't realize just how bad it was. If our pitching is dialed in and on fire, we can win 2-1 games. I'm afraid going forward, teams will now take the approach nc st finally did yesterday... walk Val every AB with or without runners on.
