I said it over and over, when Coach Venebles left, he took that intensity and leadership with him. It not only permeated the defense, but it had a positive effect on the entire team and coaches. Doughboy brought nothing to the team helped anyone be better.
Players love coaches like Tom Allen and Brent and Matt Luke. And Dabo.

When our team was playing like they were out of gas I was saying at the very same time that it was the coaching that was 100% the problem. Netters would get really pissed at me for saying that Wes Goodwin was the problem and the only way to fix it was to fire him. I didn't care about the TDs I was getting bc I knew that I was only being honest and if they couldn't handle the truth TD away, they did but I didn't care!!!
Now that we're hearing all things that our real DC had to say about what he saw from last season's practice film, and what he saw with our D in games, I just smile real big with knowing that I was right about Goodwin. Another thing I smile about, is that I know that BV suggested that Dabo hire him as our DC, and now BV is stuck with him until they run both of them off from Oklahoma bc if BV depends on Goodwin to work out as his CO DC, Goodwin will fail bc there isn't a excitable bone in his body and players have to be excited to play FB at a competitive level...

just no way I could ever be convinced that Dabo only kept Goodwin so that BV couldn’t have him. It’s the only logical reason for promoting a kid with ZERO on field coaching experience to take over the DC spot at a time when we were flying high. Dabo panicked and made an awful decision that set us back a few years.
Just thankful he has fixed it.

Honestly, I think he was a big part of our in-game sign deciphering and now that

we use radios, a lot of his value disappeared....The switch to radios also would explain why our defense rankings suddenly fell off a cliff

I know I’ll probably get flamed for this, and that’s fine. We still have people on this site that think the man can do no wrong (coaching hires/portal use/NIL etc etc). But how can you go from Brent….to Wes? That decision lies at 1 man and 1 man’s feet only. And that person is Dabo. Dabo, you’re doing the complete opposite of what you know works - what you KNOW got you to the top of the mountain. I’ll never understand that decision. It was easy, and lazy. He’ll not get a pass from me when it comes to that.

BV left at the moment he was hired at Oklahoma, he and part of his family ran out of the house and boarded the Oklahoma plane headed back to Oklahoma to introduce BV as the new HC, and there is no doubt in my mind that he's the one that suggested to Dabo on the phone to hire Goodwin as the DC, and I feel a 100% sure that is the way it went down!!!
